There is no 1/2 way Joe...wish there was !!! Gotta do it top to bottom..interior is good though....so that will save me time and $$$ ,,It's going to have to go on a rotisserie to get the bottom done right so I'm going to tear it down ....leave front and rear glass in...probably soda or walnut blast...anybody had a body done with walnut ? Pros or cons on soda ???

You don't need that can of rust buster, just get out the gas axe. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif I've had no experence with walnut shells. Mixed reviews on soda. More bad than good. I still like poly media the best. Jensen's fb deuce is at the blasters as we speak. Those frt fenders look rusty, and full of mud. I'll give you 50 bucks apiece. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif Schonye

Trying to save as much hardware as I can....I needed a torch and nut buster...knuckles still bleeding...shoulda put on those Mechanix gloves on the fender !!! Whats the bad scoop on the soda ???

Schonyenko2 01-16-2005 08:00 AM

Re: The fun begins on the Y Nova

It may vary with the jobber who does it, but around here it's 1000.00 bucks to get it done. Then you have to wash the car after to neutralize, and remove the soda. I am a bit hesitant to get bare metal wet even if you blow dry it. With media, even though its bare metal, it won't rust if you don't touch it for quite a while. Media usually runs around 600.00. It's a personal preference, and much depends on the people doing the different applications. You can sandblast the bottom, and frt stub.

Hey Bob,
Is this the car I remember seeing pictures of, that was really straight, the guy had it hauled to a shop, and the shop let another car roll into the front end? I remember reading about that on this board, but I can't find the string...

Yes Rick...I need help...problem is you are too tall to walk around in my garage !!! actuallythis week I'm going to take out much of the interior...I don't have a lot of room here to pull he motor so I may just ship it out and bring the subframe back home once it gets on the rotisserie

Thanks Bill, I gotta give credit to Bruce (XplantDad) for finding those photos as well. The one under BelAir's lift is defintely not C-Silver.

Hey Bob, wouldn't it be easier to put that car ON the lift to take it apart?

Oh, never mind....

Here a match. Who's going their project first. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Bob your right the floors in that parts car look great. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

In the garage is the best place to be right about now. Keep em coming!

Schonyenko2 01-23-2005 06:48 AM

Re: The fun begins on the Y Nova

Tap the floors with a ball pean hammer. Then put your light under the car. That will show you where all the small pinholes are, and help you decide if you're going to try to weld them up, or replace the floor. Looks like the areas above the torque box's are good.

It's a lot easier than that Schonye....I just need to drill out the pop rivets holding the 2 floor patches and do it right...
