69 SS Impala 427 convertible
i'm curious as to what everyone on here thinks of this car? with 2,455 Impala SS's built in 69 and 10% being convertibles, do you think that this car will/does have the potential to be very desirable? the market isn't showing it right now. (i have seen them restored in the 30K range). the reason i ask is the opportunity might be rising to purchase one. specs are: Garnet Red, parchment interior, auto with the 427/390. i know these bad boys came with the 427/425 but i have only seen 1 in convertible form. replys would be greatly appreciated!

Agree with the above. Color combination sure enhances the appeal and value in my opinion. NICE CAR

Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
I may have mis spoke..I know 67 SS427 is impossible to find but I was thinking of a 68...very unusual domed looking hood which is hard to find too....I am not sure what a 69 SS 427 hood looks like now that I think about it...

Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
The 69 ss 427 impala convertibles are definetly rare and desirable, but I have noticed on E-bay and other places that the 69's just aren't bringing the same money as the 67's or some 68's. My favorite SS 427 is the 67. It's a beautiful car and that hood OH man. There are 67 SS427 hoods around still. Most that are left need some rust repair but still bring some good money. For a decent 67 hood with the molding(insert) they are around $3000.+. If you can find one for cheaper you got a good deal. Definetly a desireable car 69hurstsc.

Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
Well I have one (white on red on white) and love it! You can still get them for a reasonable price and it is the last of the great legendary Impalas. I believe they will eventually increase in value but that is not why I bought it. A previous owner had installed the hidden headlight option on mine and it looks bad a$$. Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
I think they are very desireable (at least to me) as I have owned many over the years. I currently own a '68 SS427, just sold my '67 SS427 and will someday finish my '69 SS427 convert though they have not gone up in price enough to even cover the cost of the resto. There is a '69 SS427/427 convert that is owned locally here (red with black guts) but is in poor shape and needing a complete resto. I only know of three other documented 427/425 converts in the country yet they just don't seem to bring the money. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
The 68-69 'Drop tops' with factory A/C that actually work are bringing very big $$.
Of course, R12 refrigerant will have to be converted to R134A because R12 is approaching $25/lb. when you can find it. |
Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
Hi. I have a documented 69 SS427 hard top Frost Green/White vinyl top light Green bucket interior. Do you have the SS427 Tachometer in the car? Documentaion would increase its value..................

[/ QUOTE ] You might want to define "very big $$" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif If you had a nicely restored or excellent original 69 SS427 convert with working factory air, you'd be hard pressed to get $30K out of it. In today's market that can hardly raise an eyebrow. As Rick says, for whatever reason, these cars just do not command big bucks. The 67 and 68 SS427 had unique hoods; the 69 SS427 uses the same hood as any other 69 Impala https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif |

Bill
What did you get for yours when you sold it? |
Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
$10K https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif and it was a hard sell at that.

Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
wow, did you see the blown up prices on these cars in the 2005 Hemmings Muscle Machines mag? they got the high value in the $42,000 range. i in general have been disappointed with the educated guess'es in that mag.

well i can finally spill the beans on the car i asked about. my brother, sister, and myself have bought this car for my dad's 50th birthday. it as a 69 Chevy Impala SS 427 with matching #'s. the car had belonged to my dad's brother in the 70's and has gone through 2 owners since me and my siblings purchased the car last July. we couldn't mention anything about it on the board because my dad does read the board from time to time. needless to say he was overwhelmed!

Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
Has anyone seen the latest issue of Muscle car review? In it there is an article on the '67 SS427 Impalas with a sidebar article on production numbers. The source of the information is: Musclecar Production Numbers 1961-1974 by Tim Laughlin. He states that there were only 3 convertibles built. I can hardly believe this. Any opinions?

Re: 69 SS Impala 427 convertible
the SS is currently scheduled to go into the body shop (with my SC/rambler) this coming fall! a couple of cars that haven't seen the road in a combined 45 years should be on the road in the spring of 07!

Stefano, great car. Is that the same car featured in the book Muscle Car Chronicle? Also, is that the correct snorkel? Was it a factory raised white letter tire car?
