Strange color combination
Is this for real? Orange with green interior?????
http://www.jr56.com/69z28rs/tag.jpg It is a RS '69 Z28 with a strange color combination. |
Re: Strange color combination
Why the hell would someone fake that color combo? Oooh! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Re: Strange color combination
I don't remember where I saw it but some dealer had a silver Nova with a bright red interior. I love Cortez silver but that interior was hard to stomach. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Re: Strange color combination
sometimes dealers would make a mistake when they ordered a car.
over the years I have owned a few that stick in my mind. 69 Gold vette with dark green interior 68 burnt orange Vette with tobaco (dark Brown) interior Black Olds with a tan interior. They sound worse than they actually look. Pantera |
Re: Strange color combination
At the ACES Chevelle-Abration in Tenn.,I took pictures of a 1970 Cortez silver/red interior Chevelle.
Once I had them developed,...I burned them. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif |
Re: Strange color combination
Back in the summer I sold a 69Z with gold body, brown top and green interior. I could not imagine someone ordering the car with those color combos.
|
Re: Strange color combination
If I am not mistaken there is a 69 COPO Camaro that is Olympic Gold with Green Interior.
IMO Cortez Silver with Red interior is a great Color Combo. Also like the 66 Vette with Silver pearl over red leather. |

Re: Strange color combination

Re: Strange color combination
I know it's in my books but was Hugger Orange with green guts even possible on the order form?
|
Re: Strange color combination
Not sure exactly, but I do remeber the guy mentioning greenville. This guy had his own body shop.
|
Re: Strange color combination
I recently sold my -69 Nova. It was an Olympic Gold car with light green interior.

As Jim Mattison has said, some GM cars even got painted Mopar Hi-Impact colors https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Strange color combination
No doubt Bill. And this was a case of it as the color and trim sheet lists the choices of black and white interiors only. Orange houndstooth was obviously next to come.
That car must have been the product of a bunch of workers having fun. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Strange color combination
Hate to say, but, other than Ander's Nova, none of those combos sound real funky or unusual.
Dozen 69's in Silver with Red guts in the db. 15 Gold with dk green guts. Black with tan guts is still available today! I have to say I think almost any non-black interior is cool/different/interesting. |
Re: Strange color combination
A customer could get nearly ANY interior color he wanted back then.Just like the exterior paint schemes, those interior color choices in the dealer albums were merely popular recommended suggestions, not "Mandatory take it or leave it decisions".

Re: Strange color combination
Silver with red guts was a common color combo in Mercedes. Many Gullwing cars were that way in the 50's.

Re: Strange color combination
A guy in our club here has an '80 Z/28 Black with Silver vinyl interior. He's the original owner. Disco Rules!

Re: Strange color combination
Just remembered I had a Silver 79 Z-28 with Carmine (Red) Guts. That was a while ago.

Re: Strange color combination

Re: Strange color combination
I remember years ago there was a well documented Mopar - I think it was a 70 Challenger - that was the most God-awful color combo you could imagine. I'm thinking it was Plum Crazy purple with a yellow tail stripe https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif
That 70 Chevelle that Rick just mentioned wouldn't be far behind it, though https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif |
Re: Strange color combination
I saw a early 70's mopar at Reno about 10 yrs ago, plum crazy with the flower print vinyl top https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif- what were they thinking?

Re: Strange color combination
--------Two quick color combo mistakes I remember. The first one that was dealer induced was a black 69 L89 Corvette convert with a paisley covered hardtop. The second was factory produced and was a 70 W30 442 in the Olds version of Autumn Gold with a green bench seat interior. Both very odd vehicles. I saw the Vette brand new at a Chevy dealer on the east side of Columbus Ohio in the service department with the heads off. It had dropped a seat backing off the truck. I was there to buy it but sort of fell out of lust when I saw it with that top and the heads off. It took me a long time to warm up to aluminum heads after that!!!!!!..........Bill S
