If the car has good docs, it should go quickly at that price. Gorgeous car, albeit over restored.

Anyone know this car ? It can't be real at 90k.

Re: COPO Camaro

I think I understand the pricing. There is something wrong with this car. Look at the picture. Somehow they put the Camaro emblem on backwards. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Bill Pritchard 12-01-2004 09:32 PM

Re: COPO Camaro

Seller is so embarrassed about putting the emblem on backwards that he won't even list his last name https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Re: COPO Camaro

Guess the whole display floor is backwards then. Check out the signs and the lettering on the tires as well.

Guess thats what happens with you invert pics :P

Re: COPO Camaro

The seller does not have any documentation for the car but he'll gladly give out the Vin # & tell you that the engine/trans date codes are correct to the car. It has a BV rear.

Wendy please don't take offense. Not a problem at all. Just taking any opportunity to be a goofball.

The car is very cool. Thanks for sending the photos!

You know I've been wondering because I have seen that happen in magazines...how the heck does that happen ? Does the negative get flipped or something.

wendy, Who documented the car? I would get the car certified by the copo connection before selling. It could bring more $$$$. Just my 2cents. Roger

I am no editor but do they (or did they) use color slides for the photographs in magazines? Happens all the time when my family looks at slides from "the old neighborhood" on the old 1950's projector.

Re: COPO Camaro

On the BJ preshow that was on last night they interviewed the owner and he chose his words carefully and mentioned that it was a "Period correct" restoration. Looks like a nice job, even if it is a clone it is a ZL1 recreation and done quite well, so the $90k price is not outrageous.

Re: COPO Camaro

I am thinking your talking about 2 different cars here. This car is an L72. Also has spoilers.

When i spoke to the owner it was not an all #s matching car and was not sure of it's authenticity of a real copo.

Which car? The ZL1 clone/Barrent Jackson car, or the COPO that is pictured and discussed at the beginning of this thread? I'm confused!

JChlupsa 12-02-2004 11:54 PM

Re: COPO Camaro

The pics I posted were received by the daughter (Wendy) of the car the thread was started about. Notice the hand written paper says matching numbers and gives the VIN and the Partial VIN I would think was from the engine itself. Lets keep the other car (B-J Car) out of this thread if there different cars.

chads454Ls6 12-03-2004 12:05 AM

Re: COPO Camaro

I am speaking of the camaro on this thread. the owner told me he purchased this car from a woman,i forget what state,in which her husband died and the car was apart and he sent it to a shop and had it restored. He had said it took 2 years, and there is no paperwork with the car. He had told me that it was the correct motor, not the original, thought the v.i.n was on tranny but not sure of the numbers, and did not know about the rear but would check. If this is a real car, that seems like a fair price.

Begin Disclaimer: This is an OPINION on this car, not an expert judgement. I am a computer nerd and in no way qualified to make any judgements about authenticty one way or the other on this car. I went to look at this car for my own benefit and for no other reason and was not compensated by anyone to do so. If you are interested in this car, call the owner and set up a meeting to determine weather or not it is the right car for you DO NOT USE MY OPINION IN ANY WAY SHAPE, FORM or ACT to make a decision on this car.
<<<<END Disclaimer>>>>

I did. It is a very well restored 69 camaro. Probably the best I have ever seen. The owner (Gary) is a very nice guy and seemed honest when asked difficult questions about the car. However, not being ed jr, I cannot, nor can I confirm weather or not this is or was an actual CoPo car.

The owner readily admits that the block was decked and the vin restamped back after it was sleeved. The trim tag was removed and replaced during the execellant restoration as well. The rear is either a BV or BW code rear. All date codes that I looked at (which was not too many) seem to be in close proximity to the production date on the trim tag.

Also if ALL 69 COPO's received BE Heavy Duty 4:10 axle's , how can this cars BV standard duty 4:10 diff be explained???

There is a difference between 'removed and reinstalled' and 'removed and replaced'. This one is the latter, IMO.

There are companys that provide "replacement" trim tags. I'm sure most people on this board know that, but some may not.

DarrenX33 12-14-2004 03:10 AM

Re: COPO Camaro

Maybe I am wrong but those numbers just look to crisp. Also the fold in the top and bottom of the tag are very straight. Originals appear more rounded. Look at an original. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I somehow don't see a brand new, shiny trim tag being a good sign.

Nor do I. IMO like was stated earlier the top and bottom ridges appear to be too sharp.

Has anyone seen the actual tool to install that type of rivet ? It must be a strange looking piece.
