Re: Yenko Nova

Thanks guys (and gals). FINALLY was able to get a copy. A couple of typos, but overall very well done. You can tell McClurg has been at this magazine thing for a number of years.

Also today, got my judging sheet back from Chevy Vettefest today, scored a 989. A big thank you to the VF judge, not only for the nice score, but for pointing out a couple of things that could use some attention.

Pretty good score Tom...at least you are not a crybaby and take the judges input like a man.

nice thing about Bob M is that he does group articles https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif along with FEATURE CAR articles as well. Hope to see him over the Holidays, missed him while he was here at Thanksgiving but thats ok, He visits enough. Nice guy and friend.

Now thats a score I like hearing about since like yourself and Rob, I also am restoring one of my 68's by myself to see how it turns out. Seeing that someone can get such a high score and then end up with that high (Gold) of award makes me hope mine will turn out 1/2 as nice. Guess it goes to show that you dont have to spend 60K to get a car restored with repo parts and still take home the GOLD

Congrats!!! it was nice seeing the Car at SCR7.

Re: Yenko Nova

Thanks, and a big thank you to Mo, Rob, Johnyycat, Otis, Jonathan, the guys at Mr. Dent and several others who lent a hand in the restoration. Also, the Nova guys, Brian, Schonye, Marlin, Allen and all the other folks who were kind enough to offer advice and help locate parts. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Now that the Nova is done, time to find out what everyone knows about Yenko turbo Vegas. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Jeff, one of the really neat things about the hobby is the willingness of what I call "the real experts" to help out. Never once did any of the Nova guys refuse to offer advice and/or get on the phone to help me locate a hard to find part, even the ones who make their living restoring supercars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

BTW, the boys are telling me, now that I had had the car judged, and won gold, it is time to drive (I think they mean race) it. Hum...

Re: Yenko Nova

Tom...turbo Vegas are really kind of crappy....you should just let me have it so I can put it in my yard and let my kids play in it.

JChlupsa 12-11-2004 04:26 AM

Re: Yenko Nova

from what I hear thats just what you need another TROLL figure in your yard!!!!

Re: Yenko Nova

I would, but everytime I mention turbo to MO, he gets this "deer in the headlights" look in his eyes. He, his dad and brother Stacey used to be into turboized pulling rigs, all shapes and sizes. You should of seen him when I showed him the original Yenko turbo blueprints.

And I even caught Rob logged onto an H-body forum discussing how to build hi-horse turbo Vega four bangers. Rumor has it, Rob is going to give up Pure Stock drag racing and start hanging out with the younger "turbo crowd". https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Kinda figured the kid would go south on us....he was measuring up fart cans to put on the Camaro...another one lost to the Uncle Bens crowd.

Re: Yenko Nova

I keep thinking....how neat would it be to have a little ole 4 banger that would run with the BIG BLOCK (read ROB) bunch!

We had a 3.8 Turbo Buick V6 on a pulling tractor that would out pull any v8. The only tractor that out pulled us consistantly was one that had a 4 cyl. with a turbo on it.

Then if that doesn't work I still have the 350 with the BLOWER!
