Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Mike-
The seller (Jeff Latondress) is a member here. Indeed the car is legit and described well in his auction. Go for it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
I certainly wouldn't mind opening my garage door and seeing that car everyday! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
This is an excellent Deuce to enjoy as a driver or perform a frame-off!
This car is one of 25 FG deuces produced, and one of 19 remaining. Like the EBaY description says, it's originally out of Dik Watson Chev. in Williamston, MI. This car is in the first order of 125 cars, and is the 32nd Deuce produced and is stock number YS-007. The car spent it's life in MI until Jeff purchased it in 2003. We know of at least 4 deuces that went to MI, 2 went to Dik Watson (one FG, the other CR) and both are found. The other 2 went to Harry May Chev. in Monroe, MI, (one CS, the other CR) and neither are found! Per our research, most dealers received an initial order of 3 deuces, with trucks hauling approx. 6 cars per load. Additional orders of 1-2 deuces were delivered to those dealers who already ordered their minimum initial 3 car order. Following this logic, (we know that all 4 known MI deuces were shipped from Yenko on the same day), there should be 1 more deuce for each of these two MI dealers, but without more inventory sheets found or an unknown car showing up, we can't be sure. As 1970 wore on and deuces languished on the lots, Yenko appeared to relax the minimal initial order amount to whatever a dealer was willing to take! |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Marlin or Jeff... could you guys add insight as to why the motor was replaced? Was it raced? Thanks!

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
I do not know the story on the engine. It's very common though. I keep stats on how many of the 84 existing cars retain their original drivetrain, and it's exactly one-third; 33%. It is also split exactly 33% for 4speeds and a/t's. So 1 out of every 3 deuces, whether it's a 4sp or an a/t, has it's original drivetrain. These stats are partially based on owner's honesty since I have not been able to verify every single claim of 'matching drivetrain', but even with some 'margin of error' the 33% would be accurate.

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
anyone know the asking price?? ,it would be worth 45-50 to me as is, am i way off?

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Mike like Darren said Jeff (9566 BA) is a member here. Drop him a PM and ask what ever you want with him.

That car is one body number away from my Deuce.

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Does this car have a trailer hitch mounted on it? It looks like some sort of hitch without the ball in one of the pictures. The Yellow JL8 car I had we found had a hitch and trailer wiring on it at some point in time. Towing with a Deuce or a JL8 car, gotta love it!

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Yes, I believe that it had a trailer hitch installed at one time.

... ,it would be worth 45-50 to me as is, am i way off? [/ QUOTE ] Judging by what the last 4-5 Deuces have sold for, I would think that would be a fair price. It well be interesting to follow this auction. |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Wow.....a Deuce actually publicly for sale! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif I can't wait to see the end result. Good Luck Jeff....what is next in the garage??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
A beautiful grecian green '68 L79 Nova with tinted glass, buckets, console, v/t, posi, numbers match drivetrain with all the paperwork - a super car, and a flagship example for his new '68 L79 Nova Registry.

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
M? Any pics of it out there? Very cool!

Thanks Jeff. Sweet car! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Neat the car had a hitch mounted on it. I remember seeing a 69 Camaro pulling a 68 years and years ago.
Would be neat to do that again have a show car and a tow car both same years. |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Us hillbillys dig the trailer hitches! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Hey Jeff, Why do you have a BB trans cross member support in it?
Just wondering. The wife was looking over my shoulder while I was looking at it and I asked if she mind if I bought it. I'm trying to get rid of the marks around my neck right now. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif Nice car, like to replace my 71 with it. |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
The Yenko Deuces used the BB crossmember from the factory..BKH
|
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Am I to assume that's because they came with the THM400?
|
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Why is that ?
|
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
[ QUOTE ]
The Yenko Deuces used the BB crossmember from the factory..BKH [/ QUOTE ] Please do not take this the wrong way but this does not make sense to me unless they used the BB motor mounts as well. |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Maybe because the new Camaro had a different subframe so the Z28 TH400 crossmember wouldn't work so they used the BB TH400 crossmember. Up to that point in time, there wasn't any smallblock using the TH400, right?
|
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
This is a 4speed car, not a TH400 car. To my knowledge the TH400 crossmember is the same regardless of the engine size.
All Yenko Deuces came with a BB crossmember, and you are right it doesn't make sense. BTW, it's not a Pontiac member either, which looks exactly like the BB one but doesn't have the 1/2" offset. We do not know why they came this way, but they did, and they do not have the BB engine mounts - which makes the trans mount fun to install https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif One theory that we have is that the BB member was included in COPO 9737. #9737 had been a BB specific COPO since '68, and when it was modified for the Deuces in '70, the BB member was not changed to the SB one. It's a long shot, but right now it's our only shot. |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
Thanks Marlin, I've learned something new.
Glad I don't have to try to push my trans over 1/2" to get the bolts in mine. |
Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
It's a pain, the first time. I've learned that after it's installed, you can remove and re-install much easier.

Re: '70 Yenko Deuce Nova ?!?!?
So Jeff, what's the verdict?
