Can you figure out the difference with this emblem? Found on a deuce that was purchased in '72-'74.

Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
Yeah, the kid in charge of painting the colored sections was dyslexic.

The RED is where the BLUE should be.
And the BLUE is where the RED should be. http://www.darkcarnival.com/gift_pag...glasses_sm.jpg |
Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
On the same note... I have always assumed these emblems started out with black paint in them, as they were the same stick-on variety of emblem used on all Yenko sold cars...then had the red white and blue painted on top of the black at Yenko... the original black paint on these seems to have been applied at whatever factory produced the die cast emblem, and it seems to be baked-on, (almost like its powdercoated) and is next to impossible to remove from an original emblem without some heavy-duty paint stripper (or 80 grit sandpaper!) The edges of the black painted, stick-on Yenko emblems are also black... On a Deuce emblem that was painted red white and blue, did the black "edging" still remain on the emblems, or was it painted white, or removed to bare chrome on the edge?

Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
All of the above variations have been found, however the most common is for the edges to be chrome, the blue at the top, and the red at the bottom.
All of my NOS emblems had chrome edges, so I'm not sure what was/was not painted at the mfg'r. |
Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
I've never seen a black/chrome Yenko emblem that didnt have the outermost edge (perimiter) painted black... with just the top surfaces left chrome... I've also never found anything that easily removed the original black paint... seems to be some heavy-duty stuff!

Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
Did the orginal emblems have a casting number on the back of them? If so what was it? I happend to find one a while back with a number of 86878889091. Just wondering if it was a true one or reop.

Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
The originals i have do not have part numbers on the back. I think some repros do, some do not, as there have been several people/places making repro emblems over the years.
|
Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
No part #'s on the originals.

Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
Thanks alot. I kinda figured they were repros, just wanted to make sure

Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
While we are on this Yenko Crest discussion, can I ask some
of the members here a question or two about the original 1969 model year emblems? What was the original cast metal? (alum., white metal, ?) Were the original emblems attached with castle nuts on cast posts, or stick-on? From this topic I already learned that the original Crest emblem had no part number. Does anyone have a good image of an original Yenko Crest emblem that they can share? I'd like to see the front and the back sides if possible. Lastly, I'm building a collection of original "Super car" emblems and I'd like to get an original Crest, if humanly possible. Does anyone know of any in existance? I'll bet they are like hens teeth to find. I'd be very interested in learning more about these emblems. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Thanks, Steve |
Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
Who owns the rights to this style Yenko crest, if anyone?
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/...n_untitled.jpg I've seen it pretty much duplicated in print media (car magazine ads)all over...the only difference is the name in the middle of the design. In fact, there is a local car dealer here in Phoenix that's using the above "crest"...the only change is that the name of the current dealership is in the middle instead of Yenko. Opinions? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Yenko Deuce crest emblem
That crest design was very popular back in the day, so many dealers used the design with their name in the middle.
Original emblems can be found, but usually by word of mouth - especially the '69 version. The black/chrome version can be found sometimes on ebay, I had purchased two NOS ones for my car via ebay about 5 years ago. |
