Very interesting. Especially the story about the 70 year owner of that car in Paris where the owner took the wheels off the car to hide it from the Nazi's.

Brings me to an interesting subject. I wonder if guys my age (in there 20's) are really going to care about these cars someday with there VERY heafty price tags. For example I was viewing Mr. Ed's car collection and he was proudly explaining all these one off pre war cars. There was one that he was explaining to me that had WON Pebble Beach and that the car was valued at over $1,000,000! That whole time I was looking out of the corner of my eye at his 57 Chevy Belair Fuel Injection car or his all original 69 427 435 HP Corvette that is said to be last 427 435 car ever produced. I personally would not give $20,000 for one of those pre war cars that are said to be worth 1 mil+. Who will those cars appeal to in the future? What do you guys think?

Just remember the old adage= What ever floats your boat..!

Age has no area or hold on any age car group especially. There will always be someone that will almost pixx down their leg when they see someting like that old car. The only difference is what they are willing to pay for it? Remember the Ferrari boom back in the early '80's?

I have to agree. I am in my 30's and most of my friends don't even know about muscle cars let alone 60 year old classics. At all of the classic car shows I go to I am usually the youngest guy walking around looking at the cars. I just happen to love cars of all years. Something about a '36 Auburn Boattail Speedster, or a Mercedes 540k! Beautiful works of art. Maybe that is how the collecting of these treasures will go on. Seeing them not as automobiles but as true works of art. Then we will see prices go stratospheric!! (a Picasso set a record this year at $106 million)

Oh 4.6 for the Bently might be a world record for a Bently but the hightest price paid for a car is around 15 million I think a Buggati Royale and '62 Ferrari GTO sold right up in that range. But hey one you get over 10 million who's really counting????

I am 51 Frank, and I agree. Look what happened to the model A and model T. If someone gave me that car I would sell it. Can't really relate to it. Kinda think that the early stuff is boring. Looks nice, but.......boring. JMO

Back in my 20's i was in las vegas and went to the imperial palace's car collection and saw my first Dusenburg. They had about 2 doz there. I could'nt stop looking at them they were just awe inspiring, I could'nt get over the size of them and the build qaulity was awesome for their day. To this day i would love to own one. Im a fan of the Auburns, Delahayes, Cords, Packards among others, althought muscle cars are my fovorites but i still appreciate some other unique models. I was a show this summer and I was in the muscle car section. I was pasted by a late teens, early 20s guy talking to his girlfriend saying "junk" as they headed to the "tuner" section of the show. Who knows maybe car guys 20 years from now will have the above opinion of our cars.

There will always be big buck cars...the true Classics will always command big bucks....I'm 48 and for all the years I have been driving I always said I would own a 53-54 Skylark....haven't got one yet but I will someday...they sarent cheap and have held their own price wise....old Duesies ,Cadillac, Cord will always have a decent price tag on them. 22 year old guys will turn into 42 year old guys someday and the Hondas won't appeal to them anymore IMO

Those and Auburn boat-tails are awesome and define the era for me. Merc SSKs too. Kind of like 300SLs or Ferrari 250SWBs for the 50s. Too many to name for the 60s. Kind of partial to 69 Camaros, though.

Mr Ed has one like that. It was originally owned by the female aviator Amelia Earhart in the 1930's. Has a pic of her next to the car and all.

Those Chryslers were big, like a rolling fortress,that rolled center help give it a slimmer appearance---with the 413 she could avoid a lot of sideswipes and other cars kinda gave you a wide berth-- https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
