Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
Can someone explain why a 6 cyl 69 camaro with a yenko ZL-1 engine dropped in by the car owner in 1982 is worth 70k to people? Am i missing something? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Roger

Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
For the same reason a undocumented body shell with a BE axle is accepted as a COPO.
For the same reason a made-over Z/28 with add-on JL8 is involved in a bidding frenzy. For the same reason a Z/28 on ebay advertised as original with an obviously restamped engine is now over $50,000. The people now bidding on HP 1969 Camaros are the most gullible group of people on the planet. Knowledgeable enthusiasts aren't bidding on these cars. Watch for the whining when the '69 frenzy wanes and these people learn they got screwed. |

Nice looking broach marks and trans designation on that Z. Buyers with little knowledge are getting caught up in the buying frenzy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
Roger, I think it's over 100k now. Did Yenko only make 5 ZL-1 motors or did I misunderstand the ad? Maybe he ment 5 complete engines. I thought there were quite a few Yenko crested ZL-1 blocks out there per old threads on this site. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gifBrent

Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
Here is the link to the Ebay auction. This is the same seller that had the Yenko Chevelle clone listed several months ago.

Stop the madness. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif
This is getting way out of hand. He is selling a 6 cylinder car with a V8 trim tag with an aluminum BB (Ok they are not cheap) for over $100k and we can't even sell a 69 SS BB car with a 427 for $27k.??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif We are not trying to fool anybody and are not claiming it to be something it's not. What are we doing wrong?? I am confused and don't get it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Maybe because his car has one of those new aluminum "engiene" with "manuel" transmissions which makes this car above "avarage". Sorry couldn't help myself after reading his auction. My neck is getting sore from shaking my head so much. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Rick |
Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
The selling dealer also has some other interesting cars. Claims to have a 70 ram air 4 gto convert with docs., price seems cheap. x44d80, not sure how many blocks yenko cast, but there were different marking on the front of block. Yenko done in letters and then also done with the yenko crest, and on other variation. Roger

Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
Well said William!
I was talking cars with the our church treasurer yesterday, and he has an interesting term for this: The Bigger Fool! He's a car dealer and frequents the Manheim auction, and watches where one 'fool' buys the car in order to sell to 'The Bigger Fool'!! It's sad, but true https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |

10:8 ZL1 PISTOONS [/ QUOTE ] Rick...you need to get a set of these in your car before you sell it ! |

Oh darn, that's what we are missing. Or maybe we need a set of those [ QUOTE ]

Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
Now here is another one. It's not a high dollar super car but I find the numbers on this a little strange. Although the VIN is in the build date range compare the VIN with the cowl tag code for the car.
They are claiming numbers matching. Am I missing something? Are convertibles tag differently? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif I would question this one as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...20369&rd=1 Rick H. |
Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
69 trim tags don't use the third digit to identify 6 cyl vs 8 cyl so there is nothing wrong with the trim tag on the 6 cyl convertible.

Wasn't quite sure that is why I asked. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
I looked at the broach marks on the 50K Z and wonder why they look wrong to you? Maby my computer is not as clear. I understand on the trans, it looks a little deep stampted.

Made em for years. This guy is just another case of information pollution. |
Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
Hmmmm, 2 bid retractions already and back down to $74K.

Re: Yenko ZL-1 on ebay
I thought i might add my 2 cents worth since i have a Yenko block , that one appears to be one of the marine blocks that everyone thought mine was . I dont have his picture in front of me but i dont recall it having a crest , i believe he also stated it had a marine cam and was a standard 427 bore. From all of the info i have found they were made in several different configurations ,Marine , Can-Am , Sprint , Drag Racing , Grand Prix ,and Stock Cars , some had steel liners others did not . Cubic inch ran from 427 to 498 .
