COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

It's begining to look like I have a '69 COPO Camaro. See http://www.camaros.net/forum/ultimat...ic/6/4910.html For details. My questions are, what do I need to register it, certify it, insure it, restore it. This is all pretty new to me, so any pointers would be much appreciated.

Very Cool,
Congrats!
Question: Does your car have the correct rear spoiler spring rods to hold the Deck lid open with a spoiler on it?

Let us know if and when you find out if the internal components of the rear are original to the car and what the corresponding dates are.

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

what do the original spoiler rods look like?

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

One rod is a larger diameter than the other on factory D80 cars...BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Brian is correct about the rod size, but usually, if the spoiler is off, the trunk lid slams itself open when you turn the key, whereas a non D80 is way more gentle. S.

You couldn't have read the thread very carefully. The VIN and Cowl Tag info is in the third or 4th entry. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

I think Belair should change the status of 676767 to "stranger and stranger". However, why is this guy allowed to keep posting without any profile info?
Do we really need to be amused by this person or person's? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Did you get a chance to check Greg's VIN list to see if this car is on there?

676767 10-19-2004 07:30 PM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Actually my discussion with Greg was more about whats going on with Copoloco and his possible visit to see Greg's paper to attest to it's authenticity. I didn't get a chance to run the VIN by him, but if you want to you can, frankly you guys are the ones who doubts Greg and I don't know one way or another, I was kinda of waiting to hear what COPO loco said after his visit like a lot of people, but hey why not ask him yourself, (we don't need his number) Greg long D.P.E..

676767 10-19-2004 07:35 PM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Not Al Gee the Englishman, I am an American and own a possible COPO 427 and if it's a real one one the first ones made.

Belair62 10-19-2004 08:06 PM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

You are the one who touted him like a savior and hung your COPO hat on Gregs info...you call him....you need the info....

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Let me see if I understand you correctly, you "didn't get a chance to run the VIN by him" ? Why? Shouldn't that be your first priority if this car you own is some sort of pre-Yenko prototype or something? You're not making sense.

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

No, his statement is being misread. He did run his VIN by Greg, but he didn't run the VIN that this thread is talking about.

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 10-20-2004 02:08 AM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Ok, I see.
So, what did this Greg say about his vin? If he has all of this documentation, then why would anyone need to authenticate it?

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Jeff, you can't possibly be giving any credibility to this list theory. Say it isn't so... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

I really don't see how Tonawanda would know which engine was going into which specific car and pre-stamping the engines with the VIN so the assembly line workers at each plant would have to scramble around to match up the correct engine with the body it belonged to, but I'm trying to keep an open mind! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

676767 10-20-2004 05:30 PM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Yea Jeff H has it right it was misread, anyway you guys can go to Rabbitstoys.com and go to copos amd read about what Tim says about the paper. I fowarded Tim's recommendation to greg at D.P.E. so I am just waitign to see if he will do that. If it really is Vicne Piggins paper work.

676767 10-20-2004 05:34 PM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Well you know Mr. belair, there really wasn't anyione or anywhere else to hang the hat on, you know. Ed C has been asked about teh car, enko.net has checked the car out, and they don't have anything, so if greg Long's paper is bogus then hey it's not a COPO unless I can dig up the first owner and find out what he did with the paper the car came with, so what am i suppose to do, I mean no one has proven it's not a COPO (we have been through this already, no need to go any further than this now)

The burden of proof is to prove that it is, not that it isn't. However, you're right..... that's another topic that has been worn out elsewhere.

Belair62 10-20-2004 06:05 PM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Well thats actually a pretty decent response 676767....but you can't "ask" Ed about the car...and I don't know how Yenko.net "checked it out"...but you have very little to go on so just play out the original owner angle until you find the guy and hope he has some paper for you....

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

Actually BelairI didn't ask EdC becasue the last owner Wayne Siscoe Sarge in the Air force already asked him, the answer was nothing conclusive one way or another, so i didn't bother. The times I have asked EdC a question it tooks days for him to get back and the answer was always cryptic, and when specific follow up questions were asked there was never an answer, so there you go??

If you really want to contact Greg in Angola call him . He's not hard to find

Belair62 10-21-2004 06:07 PM

Re: COPO? Hmmmm ... Now what?

I don't think you will get Ed or anyone else to verify a car if there is no COPO stuff left on it ....and quit advertising for this guy...
