Steve
I have heard the same thing on 4 made, that would be with the pink stripe in a six pack N96 shaker hood car. May want to get on Moparts.com and ask there kissalien and Daniel Banker are the experts. As far as FM3 Panther Pink six pack shaker hood cars go beside the ones you listed, I know of 2 others both have white stripes originally. Bruce |

One other thing, Dodge only made 184 Shaker hood Challengers in 1970, so by collector standards they are pretty rare in any color.

Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
Any break down between Hemi's and others? Were Hemi's and Six Packs the only ones that could have the shaker? Just how many Hemi's were there in 70?

[/ QUOTE ] In 70 you could get a shaker hood on a 340, 440 4bbl, 440 6-Pak or 426 hemi E-body (Challenger or Cuda). On the Hemi Cuda, the shaker was standard equipment but on the other models, it was an option. |
Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
There is also 2 383 Challengers I have heard have shaker hoods.
Daniel Banker owns one of them and it's a pink car also |
Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
Here is the one in Tulsa that they guy is fed up with and doesn't want anymore. The pic on the roll back is after getting the top put on; he has put many more of the parts back on before stopping, not shown in the pics. He will get me more pics and some paperwork later in the weekend.

Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
I always thought the panther pink was a pretty cool color. Like the purple ones too.

Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
In real life this car looks a much lighter shade, and more pink than the pic implies when I see it on my screen.

Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
There are two mistakes that you're making which is pretty common in the Mopar world. That is, you cannot combine options to arrive at a production figure. It is possible to find out how many pink cars were built, but not how many had the Six Pack or the Shaker.
The other mistake is that stripe color records were not kept, so it is not known how many cars got the pink stripe. I think more than 4 survive, including KissAlien's. His site (and email) can be found here. |
Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
Also keep in mind that its probably better to say its how many are known to exist and not actually made. This can be better defined by the 71 Hemi Cuda Convertibles. At one time only 4 were supposed to have been made and now I think its up to 7 or 8 even if you count the re-bodied one in the Detroit area.

Re: 70 Challenger RT 440 Six Pack Pink Panther
At least as far as the 70 cuda's are concerned, you can figure out how many 6 pack, or 440, or 340 cars were made becasue the engine and carburation is coded into the cars VIN. Example the AAR Cudas, and T/A Challengers have VINs that start with BS23JOB, or JS23JOB. Same with the 440's and the 440 six packs (different numbers though). You still can't combine options like colors, and shakers with production numbers and come up with a meaningful total number of cars though. Sort of like my Buddies old 440 six pack 4 speed RT Challenger Convertible. He used to throw around numbers like 1 of 60, which is supposedly the number of 4 speed 440 6 Pack RT challenger convertibles (out of something like 100 total 440 6 pack rt convertibles. I'm sure he could have lowered the number considerably if he included the power windows, power top, 8 track, rim blow horn, etc. that the car had.
