Cheetahs are so cool, especially with big'ol five-spokes. And what kid didn't have a Hot Wheels Cheetah back in 1969? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

All I know is what I've read on that web site, and that I'd like to dig one (some?) out of a barn for myself. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

One guy did post in their discussion page around '03 that the car was still in Oklahoma and that a resto was done on the chassis and the body was being pieced back together --Well, hang on. I'll post his post here.......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am the one that took the pictures of the Rescue Cheetah and sent them to Rob. The status is as follows:

* A lot of effort was put into it initially, making the chassis drivable pretty quickly.

* The body had several tears and missing pieces, and are not (yet) repaired [to the best of my knowledge]

* When purchased in the early 70's (before being stored in the barn), it was sold as a real Cheetah that had been drag raced and wrecked. Although we still hold out hope that it is a real one, it is not known if that will ever be determined with any certainity. There are some experts that feel that the frame is too different from the other Cheetah's to be an original, but it isn't known if the repairs are perhaps the cause of the frame differences. A body-off, side-by-side comparison with a known real one may be the only way to find out for sure.

That is the latest I know about it, and unfortunately, I am sad to say that I may never get to talk to the original owner again (don't bother asking why)... so the above be all I/we will ever know.
------------------------------------------------------------

I bet that car is a real one. The body looks correct at all points to me. The difference in the chassis may be due to a wreck or it was modified for stiffness. I wonder if this car could be the white Hurst Cheetah that was wrecked. It looks like the body was cut for the front and rear flares.

Years ago I was told that an old friend and neighbor of mine had one of these cars and he had moved to a farm here in Oklahoma. I wonder if that could be him?

His name was Gary. I think I wll look him up. It has been many years since I have talked to him.

WOW, that's amazing to see something that far gone coming back to life. Glad to see someone is taking the time to rescue such a rare car.

It would be nice to give credit or a link when you post an image from another web site. A lot of work goes into gathering the information and then maintaining a site.

That is a good site but has been inactive for the last couple of years. This one came from Cheetahs Always Win under the pictures section.

Re: cheetah under restoration

I'd say the one listed in Cars Oct. '65 is not a real one. It looks like it could be an IndyExotics replica. You can see that the windows shape and form (and "A" pillars) are different from an original.

Re: cheetah under restoration

I think the car with the crossram 4 bbls is a Fiberglass Trends body and probably their frame kit as well. They marketed a drag race package. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif
