Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
It's YASGUR....the documentary that was made during Woodstock was very interesting...different times...bet there were a few Motion cars abandoned on the side of the road when the had to walk the rest of the way to the site. I think JoeG had to do that.

Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
Belair,
You were obviously one of the unfortunate few who had the brown acid. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif I was 18 then, and turned down tickets in favor of taking my girlfriend (now my wife) to the shore that weekend. .....................still had a good time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |

Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
Two female 'friends', who actually attended the event tried to 'entice' me to go along. They drove a 63 Impala SS convertable and I was to ride 'shotgun' for them. I knew that if I missed 3 days of classes in high school, I would be in deep trouble. I was 16 at the time.
They did say that 'bad acid' was going around, but plenty of good 'weed' was there. It was a historic event of the late 60s' and I doubt it will ever happen again. |
Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
I pass that field from time time , it's a green meadow now, a tourist attraction with a plaque /moument briefly explaining the event---There was a attempt to use the original field again for the 2nd Woodstock, but were turned down.-It was held down the road aways in another field, after it stopped raining at this one, cars were buried up to their wheels in mud,up and down the road. A friends son, that had attended it, told me the farmer was getting up to $250. to pull cars out of the mud with his tractor---Who'll stop the rain.......... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif photo--that line of cars and people between the meadows was a dirt road, it became a huge mud slide when it started to rain as people and cars tried to leave----

Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
I have the DVD. I can imagine the body odor from the hippies. I also noticed a lot of brand new cars. Spoiled hippies. I wonder how many are now soulless capitalists? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

It was a historic event of the late 60s' and I doubt it will ever happen again. [/ QUOTE ] Didn't they try a Woodstock-like event at the former Griffiss AFB in New York on the 25th or 30th anniversary of the '69 event? I seem to remember that between the (angry) grunge bands, the (angry) metal bands, the sky-high price of food concessions ($8.00 water), and too few out-houses, the whole thing literally went up in flames in one big riot. They even had a huge mud pit and that scene went downhill fast with people throwing mud at the musicians on the stage. The police finally waded into the riot and started arresting as many of the hell-raisers as they could cuff together. VH1 did a documentary of the event and interviewed one of the rioters who had been convicted and imprisoned. Instead of admitting he had done anything wrong, he was only angry that he had been caught. The Rolling Stones' 1969 Altamont (California) concert after Woodstock sealed the fate of huge, outdoor free concerts. Woodstock '69 was definately a one-time occurance. |
Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
Hey guys how about the Monterey International Pop Music Festival. June 1967. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif I was there as best I can remember. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
How did Hendrix sound at Monterey ??
|
Re: WoodStock 35th Anniversary
I think Monterey was the first place Jimi set his guitar on fire. I think it was his first big show and he just blew everybody away. The movie documentary shows Cass Elliot (Mama Cass) in the crowd during the Hendrix performance and the look on her face was something along the lines of OH MY GOD.

Those Vintage Guitars --do make a nice fire---
I was watching a program called Antiques Road Show last year and a fella brought his Fender Strat Guitar to the show to be appraised--It had been autographed by JIMMI HENDRIX written across the Guitar face----Think they appraised it at $25k to as high as $50k at aution--- https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif |

Nice picture of me and cousin Ed. I still do that fish call. I find it still has a lot of relevance.
Maybe they'll put a A&W tray on your deuce window as you sit outside the banquet hall. And hopefully the girl on skates is drunk. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Schonye |
