found a Yenko Chevelle...please help
Hi, I just recently came across a LeMans Blue Yenko Chevelle in my area, but there is a slight problem...I don't know much of anything about Yenko Chevelles. I was wondering if you fellas could help me out by telling me various facts and information about the Yenko Chevelles. I have already been to www.copo.com to get the VIN's, car color information, and the total number of 1969 Yenko Chevelles built. I would appreciate any knowledge you are willing to share with me...such as how much this car is worth, how many are still around, etc. I plan at checking the car out later today, and will be back to let ya'll know if this car is the real deal and its condition.
Thanks, Bryan |

COndition is gonna be the big factor in determining worth. But, take a look, report back here, and we'd be more than glad to lend a hand!

Re: found a Yenko Chevelle...please help
Tread carefully as there is alot of clones being sold as the real thing https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif, also watch for cars that have been retaged as there is a team of brothers out there that are revining regular muscle cars with rare vin #'s and passing them off as real. They even have the right paperwork to back them up https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif This is a good place to find the right info

Re: found a Yenko Chevelle...please help
First of all I would like to thank ya'll for responding. Earlier today I went and looked at what I thought was gonna be a LeMans Blue 1969 Yenko Chevelle...with the copo.com list of VIN's in hand. From a distance the car looked great and like all of the Yenko Chevelles I've seen on the net. When I looked closer I noticed there was a little bit of rust coming through the paint, the engine bay needed to be cleaned up a little, and that the sYc "stickers" on the headrests were coming off. Other than that the car seemed fine, that was until I checked the VIN. The VIN on the car was 398582. I searched through my list and, to my disappointment, couldn't find a match. You can see a picture of the car at http://www.nashvillepowersportauctio...entauction.cfm . What irritates me about all this, is not that I ran across a clone, but that these people are advertising this car as the real deal. I wasn't able to talk to anyone there about the car because they were "busy" and plus they didn't seem like they would know anything at all about the car. With all this said, I have another question. Where can I find the casting numbers on the 427 engine block, the intake manifold, and how do the casting numbers work? Once again, I thank ya'll very very much.

WOW! Thanks for the information. The auction for the car is tomorrow. I wonder if they are gonna let everyone know it isn't a real Yenko.

Re: found a Yenko Chevelle...please help
Im digging up some info on these 2 guys and will let everybody know what i find out. I want to make sure that this is true before i go any further, but i do know that they are bringing cars into Canada to sell. I would imagine they're working both ways as it's a little harder to trace cars out of country. Will update as i get info

Re: found a Yenko Chevelle...please help
The car sold for $53,000 today at the auction. Just before bidding started the auctioneer told everyone that he doesn't know anything about cars and that they should bid at their own risk. I was hoping to get to talk to the buyer, but I never found him. Oh well.
Canucklehead, are you talking about the brothers that are making the fake VIN's, or the previous owner of the car i am taling about? Either way I would love to know what information you find. Thanks, Bryan |
Re: found a Yenko Chevelle...please help
No, these guys are totally different guys. i have a friend checking on the info. The Canadian cotact is in Montreal.

Re: found a Yenko Chevelle...please help
The original owner of my yenko chevelle called me today and was very excited as he thought he had located a yenko chevelle for purchase. he wanted to know how to find the chevelle vin numbers, and i told him how to look them up on this site. I then asked him some questions, the guy swore up and down it was a real car. he told me they were asking around 20000.00 for the car and that it was at a dealer. i asked him if it was red,and it was. i told him that the car had been talked about before and was determined to be fake. I know this car has been talked about and i believe it was at a koppi motors but not sure as i could not find the thread. I just wonder why this dealer keeps telling people this car is legit when he knows it is not.
