Beware of Mesa Arizona

I had to spend an hour with the post master in town and got around to talking about my hobby (camaro's) and my occupation (private investigator). She told me that she had recently received a call from an investigator in Ohio(I think)It seems that her 69 Camaro 6 cyl 3spd that she had sold to a neighbor for $2500 was resold to a man in Mesa Arizona for $6000 and is now in Ohio (still not sure which state) as a 69 SS396 bought for $35000. The new owner has learned he was had and has hired the investigator to trace the previous owners. Hope it wasn't one of you guys.

The vin would tell you it is a 6 cylinder so I'm not sure why a Investigator is needed.

Yep, I agree. With 35K on the line, you would think he would have checked that.

Something smells fishy to me

Re: Beware of Mesa Arizona

I would assume the investigator in this because there is a lawsuit in the works. And of course if the buyer was knowledgable he would have known to check the vin or at least sought some advice from one of you folks. I didn't ask a lot of questions of the postmaster. I don't know what the seller represented the car to be. Could be the seller just found a fish.

Should be "Beware Everywhere."

Hey Ken!

Mark from Toronto here! It's been a while...hope you are doing well and enjoying your retirement https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Thanks for the heads up on the potential problem. Keep us informed if you hear anything else.

BTW, I still kick myself for not buying your '67 Bill Thomas Camaro when I had the chance. That car is definitely my "the one that got away" car!

Take care,

Re: Beware of Mesa Arizona

I was seriously considering that car as well Mark but I already had a Jl8 car at the time so I had no money(and still don't)!

Re: Beware of Mesa Arizona

Jeff, the sad thing is that I had the money! Ken and I really had no idea what the car was worth and luckily for him he found out before I handed him the cash! He was a gentleman throughout the experience and even helped me out with a little investigative work I was doing. Thanks again Ken https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

How about this in Scottsdale AZ? 123679N624691, now a BB/automatic. Very carefully worded ad.

Re: Beware of Mesa Arizona

I see that the VIN number has 12367... in one place, and 12467 in another. As for being an original BB car, isnt the heater hoses in the correct place for a BB or did all 69's have the hoses that far over on the firewall? Kevin

Re: Beware of Mesa Arizona

The seller of the '69 convertible is Hawks Corvettes in Scottsdale, AZ. I have been to Hawks restoration shop before. They do nice work. I do not think they would scam anyone.

Re: Beware of Mesa Arizona

Misrepresentation by silence IS scamming.

They are presenting this as "Only 85K Original Miles!" discussing the options it has but of course they don't know if it is an original BB car. Yeah suuure. They know darn well it was a green 6-cylinder car.

It appears to be nicely done but is is a clone. Why not state that instead of equivocating?

Nice verbage...
"I don't know if this a original big block car or not, but it is up to you to decide. It is a Norwood built car with the X-11 code on the trim tag."

Who is fooling who? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

That's not the VIN, that's the style code on the trim tag. I wrote this just for you. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif
