Looking To Buy A Yenko

I was in the market to buy a Yenko Camero and came across this website. Thought you guys would be a good source to get some info from, hope you can help. Im after a 69 Yenko Camero and i just wanted to know a few things. What would i expect to pay for one, in whatever condition (i know it's going to be expensive, and i will be willing to go anywhere in the world to find one)? Where would be the best place to look for one? Does anybody have a line on one that may be available?, I would be interested in a 69 Yenko Nova also. Any leeds or info would be much appretiated.

Welcome to the site and I like your screename. Please fill out your profile and in the future spell Camaro correctly https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif. This is a good place to post that you are looking for a Yenko. You probably won't find a 69 Camaro for less than 100K and maybe as much as 200K a Nova will probably set you back over 200K at least and maybe as much as 300K but I doubt if many owners are parting with them. I believe Legendary Motorcars in Canada has at least one Yenko Camaro for sale.

Re: Looking To Buy A Yenko

Oh and i did find the one at Worldwide Musclecars. Now they're asking $200k. Is this way out of line or is that how much they're going for now?. I do watch BJ auctions and see COPO's going for around 1/2 that. Is it a supply and demand kind of market and guys just ask whatever and see if people will pay that? Reading other posts i find that this car has been for sale for awhile. I phoned the guy and he was rather rude. Don't blame him, he must get alot of inquires, but im serious!!!, and it's frustrating when sellers act like that. I just wanted some extra info on it, so i would expect you guys would have the answer to my questions. Any other leads would be great!

about a month ago that car was at 160k, it is a very nice car for sure with low miles. i'm also in the market for something. the gentleman that owns wwmc is a member here. like charley lillard stated, legendary motorcars has two yenkos on their site. if you find out anything about those let me know. welcome to the site and good luck.

I checked Legendarys cars out, i wase'nt aware that they were here in Canada. The yellow one is a non matching #s car, auto but still has a 427 aftermarket engine in it. They want $135k for it. The orange one is a #'s matching also an auto and they're asking $145k for that one. I did'nt ask for the serials to check them as the guy seemed pissed that i had the nerve to ask for the mileage. You know i used to sell cars, these guys could learn a little about salesman edicate. Maybe it's becouse they get alot of BS calls, but still you never know who you might be talking to. I've always wanted one and i have a general idea as to how much i have to pay, and I am a legit customer. Is this the kind of attitude that yenko owners have or is it just these few eggs in the basket?. I did'nt get names but i'll make sure whoever it was won't get credit for the sale!

Re: Looking To Buy A Yenko

They are dealers...not owners...I wouldn't try and equate owners attitudes with what a dealer gave you .

Re: Looking To Buy A Yenko

for an auto matching yenko it seems a little low going by the market today. there was a gentelman here that was going to sell his auto yenko, its a non matching car but a real yenko camaro. can't remember who it was.

Re: Looking To Buy A Yenko

-----Be aware, Canucklehead, that just because the add and the salespeople say the engine has matching numbers does not in any way mean the engine is the original engine to that car. Matter of fact, the fact that Legendary says "matching numbers" as opposed to "the original engine" probably means that restamps are present.........Bill S

Canucklehead 04-07-2004 07:49 PM

Re: Looking To Buy A Yenko

Restamps being a replacement engine from 69 so as to keep with the model year or someone taking a block and stamping the right codes on it?. The reason i ask is becouse some people use different terms in this buisness. Also i wanted to ask, if i was to take, say a non matching #'s yenko and customize it further, how much would that effect the value of it. I would never think to do anything to a #'s matching but being that one has already being altered???, just curious.

even nom yenko cars are bringing big money. i wouldn't alter the body of one those cars if i were you, and if you did alter the body, if thats what you're into, i would make it where i could reverse the alteration. imo.

Canucklehead 04-07-2004 11:27 PM

Re: Looking To Buy A Yenko

I was thinking of making one into a rag. Most likly a bad idea as chopping the roof off is a major body mod, and it would most likely cut the value in half. However it's still an original yenko. Could do it to a copo of some sort too.

I could just see you guys cringing just reading this post https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Not most likely, it's DEFINITELY a bad idea. I don't understand the logic, why care about matching #'s and a car being an original Yenko or COPO if you plan to take the sawzall to it? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif There are plenty of clones on ebay every week that would be perfect for butchering. Or better yet, just buy a nice ragtop and clone it however you'd like it, just please, don't even consider hacking up an original Yenko or COPO. If you think Yenko sellers are short with you now, mention that plan next time you call and see what they say. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif This site is about the "preservation" of Supercars, we don't even like to joke about cutting them up...I do hope you were just joking right? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Looking To Buy A Yenko

I collected comics when i was a kid, and i remember watching a movie where the villan was a comic collector. He had 2 very rare #1 Captain America's. He had the hero tied up and was explaining to him how there are so few of these left, as he was doing this he took one and put it into the paper shredder. Then he proclaims as he is holding up the remaining copy "now this one is worth twice as much". Of course that just tightened the sphincter another notch, i could'nt believe a collector would do that, yes i know it was a movie, makes you wonder though, stands to reason the more that are destroyed the more the remaining ones are worth. Although anybody serious about a collectable would never dream of purposly destroying something that he loves. Just a comment, no need to get worried. I have no intentions of buying a bunch of Yenkos to drive off a cliff or anything. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif

It was quite sometime ago, it was a James Bond style flick. I believe that Tony Curtis starred in it, i could be wrong though. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
