We are goin. Barker and a bunch of the Berger gang are goin. Sandlin is goin. There should be over 1000 cars going the whole way. Belair might trailer one of his Cheesy Queens over if the weather is perfect for one stop in Arlington. It is by far the most fun car thing we have done. Meet lots of People and see lots of the Country that you don't normally see.

Anyone know if this part will be travelled on RT 20 through Freeport and Rockford. If so I have family in that area if anyone needs help between those two points.

Be sure to let me know if any of you have a problem with your car while in Tulsa. I only live a mile from the City Plex.

It is actually part of the old Oral Roberts University property. He built it as the "dream" he received from God to build a Medical School and hospital in one building. It is the tallest building in Tulsa. Huge parking lot. Now it is a office complex. 80 stories, 800,000 sf of office space.

There is a Wall Mart "Supercenter" across the street. Great resturants on the other corner.

Southern Hills country club is two miles north. They held the US Open there a few years ago.

I hope to be there with one of my Motion cars by then.

I will be joining the tour in Davenport on Wednesday, June 9th along with another friend of mine and his car. We will do the last two days of the tour (Chicago and Green Bay).

I will be driving the '97 SS convertible. The ZL1 is staying in the garage. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Don't Let the cops in OKLA catch you. I went to jail a few time back when I got caught by the cops driving at 15 1/2. Mother was pissed because she had to come down and get me and her car out of impound.

Seriously Do you think that is wise. I would be very suprised if the organizers would allow that?

Re: hot rod power tour

just a joke guys! he'll be the passenger, unless he persuades lillard or barker to let him do some driving in one of their rides....

Re: hot rod power tour

In many states a 14 year old can drive on a "learning permit" as long as they are with a licensed driver 18 years old or older.

When my son was 14 he applied for and received a learning permit from the State of Iowa. The State of Iowa requires the applicant to pass both the written test and the vision test prior to receiving the learning permit. The purpose of the permit is to allow the student to "learn" to drive for two years before they would receive their license. This of course gives them a chance to learn all of their father or mother's bad driving habits. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

This permit is valid in any state just like your driver's license. Each state will respect the authority of the issuer of the permit just as they do your driver's licence in another state.

Shortly after he received his permit, we went on vacation to Colorado and he helped me drive out there and back. We traveled through the states of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Colorado.

You might check with the State of Texas Patrick. They may have a program just like this one. I know Missouri did when I was younger as I had a learning permit was I was much younger too. Of course I grew up on a farm and had been driving tractors and lime trucks, etc. in our farm fields since I was 8 years old. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

This may explain my desire to drive through medians. Right D.C. & Annie? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

JD,
Perhaps Mr. Murphy should have explained something to you about that Camaro. "NOT INTENDED FOR OFF-ROAD USE!"

Even assuming that there will be the occasional trip to the 1/4 mile track, that's still PAVEMENT! Still considered "ON THE ROAD." If those cars were intended to pull a plow there would have been a draw bar option. And the rear hatch isn't big enough to carry lime of any quantity to make it worthwhile. (Must be an Iowa thing.........No offense to Cap't Carl or Schonye.)

And BTW.......You were on State Property! At least in Illinois, we don't farm the medians. Jeez, maybe Nancy should take that thing away from you before you hurt someone! I'd think your 'relationship' with the local Law Enforcement might have taught you something. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I kept my mouth shut about this for fear of embarrasing you. I guess you just can't protect people from themselves! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Patrick,
Be careful what you ask for. Mr. Lillard let Barnhart drive a certain yellow car. No one in their right mind would do that! And for God's sake don't let your son in a car with Barker!!! Like JD said, it gives him a chance to learn bad driving habits; and few people have more bad driving habits than Barker! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Patrick,
I think your son should take at least one "TOUR OF DUTY" with the Barker's on the POWER TOUR. My daughter Amanda is graduating this year and she will be going with me. It was Julie's idea that each year the kids graduate that they go on the TOUR with me. It is a truly AWESOME time !!!!!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Some of you PT veterans help me out...

I noticed on the HRPT page somewhere that there would be a "Dyno Challenge" or something available, but it didn't list at which stops? Do you guys have any idea when/where on the Tour a guy could get a pull or two?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif If my wife can get this baby out in time I'd like to see where we're at HP-wise,and see if my timing is close or not...

On previous Power Tours there has been a Dyno at the event each day with a daily competetion. It is free.

Free? I like the sound of that! Would be cool to finally compare some rear wheel #s to my flywheel #s...https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Another silly question...

Will they be running @ Gateway when the PT stops there? Would be cool to make a dyno pull AND make a pass or tw...https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I wonder if the Higher Gas prices this Summer will Severly effect the turnout for this great event?

Pantera 05-28-2004 07:39 PM

Re: hot rod power tour

Today I bought gas across the street from the Tulsa stop on the Power Tour. There is a Wal Mart just across the intersection that has it for $1.85 using my 3 cents per gal pre pay card that they give you for free.

This is not too bad I know charlie will like it. Of course that was the unleaded price - premium is slightly higher.

Chevy454 05-30-2004 07:08 PM

Re: hot rod power tour

So, anyone know if they'll be making passes at Gateway the day of the Power Tour?

I don't see any wheels--I guess this car must fly--- How much boost are you running?---------------

Charley Lillard 06-02-2004 03:46 AM

Re: hot rod power tour

Boost is adjustable. On the engine dyno at about 16lbs of boost it made about 1025 hp and about 815 ft lbs torque. I will be able to dial it down to about 800 hp for pump gas on Power Tour.
