Clone ZL-1s
Hello all. I was curious to know what it would cost (generally speaking, I realize that each car is different) to purchase a completed clone ZL-1. Does anyone know of any such cars currently for sale? Thanks so much.

Re: Clone ZL-1s
Recent cars done properly have been in the $80K range, if I remember correctly.

Re: Clone ZL-1s
There were 2 down Atlantic City. They were around 100,000. One was the silver car on e-bay a few weeks ago, and the other was one from Lakewood, N.J. (Future Classics)I think the car was yellow. Not sure if they sold though. Try this number: (717) 446-6365 The silver car. Future Classics also had a couple yenko clones. Good luck. sam

Re: Clone ZL-1s
Thanks for all the quick replies. For those of you in VA, I am rather new to the area (having just come from Phoenix early last year) and am curious to know if there are any regular cruise-ins / car shows / etc. in the Richmond or Tidewater areas where I could see some cars and meet some enthusiasts. I feel like a fish out of water without my Saturday night "Pavilions" cruise-in in Scottsdale (Those of you who have made it out west for BJ or any of the other big auctions know that Phoenix is a Mecca for top-shelf muscle). Also, am I correct in saying that GM Performance Parts makes everything one would need to build a stock-appearing ZL-1?

Re: Clone ZL-1s
WOW! 129K for a clone? Why would someone buy a clone for 129K when the Berger CoPo on Ebay did not sell for 110k? Or am I missing something (besides the aluminum block) performance wise that is different?

Re: Clone ZL-1s
I believe the one for $129K has an original date-coded ZL-1 motor in it. Agreed . . . I would have a difficult time spending that much on a clone.

Re: Clone ZL-1s
Call up Future Classics in Lakewood, N.J. See what they have. I think you can see them at www.futureclassics.com If you know you are buying a clone of anything it becomes a lot easier....Don't need any paper work and don't need anybody judging your car. Just how nice the resto is, that is all! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Sam

Re: Clone ZL-1s
its really fun to watch all this going on around us. the muscle car market has gone crazy. you can buy a zl1 motor, i seen here in the forum, for 24k, find a decent plain camaro and install it, with some heavy duty goodies and there you have it "a zl1 clone" 50k in a car, at the most, and expect to get 100k out of it? please be for real. that guy selling that car should be whipped along with the person that buys it.

Re: Clone ZL-1s
Geem I have to agree with you on this.....I think it would be wiser to buy a real COPO rather than a perfect ZL1 clone...I don't know which one would be more fun though.I have to think there is no way this car will ever fetch that kind of money. If it does....well I guess it does then ! Remember B/J...if someone likes it enough they will buy it I guess.

[/ QUOTE ] FUN, that is beating the heck out of my ZL-1 clone down the 1/4 mile, not being afraid to break it and running low 11's or maybe high 10's this year https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif and trying to shut down the BIG HEMI'S. But, I see what you guy's are saying I can not believe the prices the clones are bring 50-100k for a restored camaro with a pop can motor. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gifMAYBE NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO SELL!!!!!!! Re: Clone ZL-1s
Buy a COPO and put a Zl1 in it and run the crap out of it. Best of both worlds. When the aluminum motor blows up put the iron one back in.

Now THAT'S funny! I also heard through the grapevine a certain "Stock Appearing" ZL-1 got a little rough with an '02 Phase III ZL-1. Something to the tune of 11.3@125+!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif |
