Build Code

Trying to identify the "FLT" code on my build sheet. The car is a 1970 L78 Nova. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Build Code

Could possibly be "Fleet"

Re: Build Code

Would it be possible that this car was part of a fleet order? Seems unlikely.

Re: Build Code

FLT is one of those codes that no one seems to know what it means. It has been seen on many sheets, but there isn't a source to positively identify what it indicates.

Re: Build Code

Thanks,

I have quite a bit of documentation for my car, and have decoded everything except that. I Have always wondered what it meant - guess I'll forget about it.

Re: Build Code

The "FLT" can and sometimes does refer to a Fleet order..Back in 1993/1994 I ordered a number of B4C (police pursuit package)Z28's for the dealership I worked for. The cars were all ordered on a purchase order through our fleet department, as Chevrolet wasn't building 6 spd cars as quickly on stock or customer ordered cars. We then converted the cars over to retail units, yet they still carried fleet codes on the paperwork..It could be your car was done the same..a way for the dealer to get a car quicker or maybe even for it to be built at all..Just a thought

Re: Build Code

Way back in time (1969 for example) a fleet car was also one that the dealer ordered for inventory, not for a specific customer. The 69 dealer order sheet has two boxes on it that designates a customer order, or fleet order.

Re: Build Code

You're probably right, because I know this car was ordered for inventory.

Re: Build Code

Where on the sheet is this code located?

In the area with all options?

The only reference I find for FLT is in the current RPO list
FLT Sales Processing Option

Re: Build Code

The code is located between the option codes in box 3 on the first line of codes. There are also a couple of empty boxes below that are labeled "copo f & so"

Re: Build Code

I looked in a old reference book I have with the complete options lists and FLT is not there.

Any chance you have a image to post?

I don't understand where box 3 is, all the built sheets I have show the options listed in Box 107. Are you referring to a Trim Broadcast sheet?

FWIW - All the codes in the F range refer to axle and suspensions.

Re: Build Code

Yes, It is the trim broadcast sheet found under the rear seat. Sorry for the confusion!

Re: Build Code

No problem.

I would bet this is not an RPO code, Could be that plants code for something totally unrelated to option content but that a WAG.

Re: Build Code

@wot;

I have also figured that FLT means Fleet. Since you have a documented car, would you mind helping the Research Project out by contributing to the database? Totally confidential and the information is helping to figure out these unknown things.

PM me if you do.

Thanks,
Greg
