'69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
|
Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
The really confusing part is that it's already been bid to over $41,000.
|
Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Well, it does have those stickers and stripes. And some bonus Z-28 emblems thrown in for good measure. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
I would like to know where on Oaku I mean Oahu he took those pics with the trees in the background. I have never seen the Yenko clone or the other 2 cars he has listed.
|
Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Quite frankly, the pictures look a lot like it does here in Iowa. Funny though, cars on "Oaku"--pictures from the farming portion of the mid-West--but Colorado plates? Where is Columbo when you need him!

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
As far as I know theres only one Yenko Camaro and one Yenko Vega here in Hawaii. Vega is being stored in a warehouse where they have it sitting up on the 2nd section of racks. The Camaro was wrecked years ago after it got to one of the outer islands https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Sent the seller a request for info on the car and asked if I could swing by and take a look at both Camaros they were selling Below is the reply I got back:

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
That background on the Rally Green cars looks extremely familiar. This wouldn't be another case of stealing e-bay photos would it? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Yep same one that WWMC has listed for sale on their site
|
Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
It is a ripoff scam. I just spoke with Worldwide Musclecars, the owner of the rally green Yenko and confirmed it is a scam. If you email the seller they ask you for a deposit and that is what they are stealing. ....Edited by me..I'm not sure on the first one but the green one is a scam.

Any idea if Ebay knows, and/or cares?

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Apparently they do. It's gone....

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
It would appear that the 25K that was put into the restoration went into the wrong parts https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif...BKH

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Jeff, next time tell the person who is selling a car in your area that you have 75K cash and want to look at it immediately. There seem to be a lot of scams popping up on Ebay real fast so everyone take your time if you find something that looks too good to be true.

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
This is getting to be like a broken record, but I will throw it out there again. E-bay is bad for our hobby! It is the cyber platform for hucksters and con men. This internet auction site has created the perfect marketplace for deception and fraud. I'm glad there are so many watchdogs on this site, but I'm sad for those who don't know what is going on.
My suggestion: sell fairly, sell honestly and don't sell on E-bay. Wilma |
Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Don't you think the LS6 convert was a good way to sell ? Everybody had a chance to get it. There is plenty good about Ebay.

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
I just don't think the good out weighs the bad. Too many horror stories, misrepresentations and alike. Yes, there are legit deals, but I feel they are difficult to sort out from the other stuff. Maybe it's me, just an old fashioned gearhead trying to make it in "cyberland". Wilma https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Obviously buyers must be very careful when buying on ebay. There are a lot of good deals on ebay. I was able to buy two NOS rear quarters for my Nova for less than what people wanted for one!

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
[ QUOTE ]
E-bay is bad for our hobby! It is the cyber platform for hucksters and con men. Wilma [/ QUOTE ] I respectfully disagree. People with the objective of conning someone else have been around forever. They'll always find a creative way. Ebay itself is no different than the fairgrounds where you attend your next swap meet. It is the place, or source, for locating things. It's the PEOPLE that make or break the experience. For those of us who may be located in the middle of nowhere without access to such places as Carlisle or some of those California swap meets, it has been a great source for locating hard to find parts that I'd never be able to happen across anywhere else. I have a lot of goodies stashed away for my Nova from Ebay deals. As a seller, I've also helped other people get the parts that they need that they most likely wouldn't stumble across anywhere else. There's good out there and bad out there, and you just have to use your own educated judgement and God-given brains to sort out what you're dealing with. Ebay isn't bad for the hobby...... scummy people are, and you'll find them everywhere. Doesn't matter whether you are in insurance, investing, advertising..... there are shysters and they'll find a way to operate and take your assets - be it cash or goods. Projecting the impression that one major forum (Ebay) is the root of all automotive evil isn't exactly a fair and accurate statement. It all comes back to the people involved. Not everyone on Ebay is a crook. There are some, and we like to point them out to protect others. That's a good thing. But, I haven't seen any messages commending the majority of good and honest folks that deal on there. I'd like to think of myself in that same catagory, but I can't help but feel like I'm being lumped in with the crooks by those statements. Because of that, I disagree with the generalization. |

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Very well said Allen....I have never gotten screwed on E-Bay yet...it's the old addage" If it looks too good to be true,it probably is" but I will say this about E-Bay...I always seem to pay too damn much !!!
|
Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
Well put and fairly stated. I may be a little harder than needed on the Ebay program. There are certainly a lot of "standup" folks who do business through the auction site and many who are members of this group. It is also fair to note that a lot of you guys do a great job "policing" the fakes and con artists, and for that I am grateful. I guess I'm a just a little too old fashioned and skeptical. So for all you honest and fair Ebay marketers my profound apologies. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif As for the crooks, beware, you are being watched by the SYC police. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: '69 "Yenko" on e-Bay---What is this!?!
What really gets me is the people that show you parts that they want to sell. And you give them an offer and they come up with excuses of not selling them to you.So why bother showing me the parts to begin with,is it SHOW-n-TELL time.Just get tired of these people tooting their HORN's.As far as the E-bay outlet.Educate yourself before you buy cause remember the buyer is in the driver's seat.If it's not what you want or the price is too much for you then walk away. The "MOF" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif
