I think the latest auction got to him since hes asking 100K for a Black with Orange H/tooth interior car thats on his web site.. Wonder how he knows it a 1 of 1 car??

Mr. T 02-16-2004 04:13 AM

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW

Good question. His prices on some of his cars do seem a little "out of reach" on prices. I could think of another color than orange for the interior, especially on a black 69Z.

Why does a 1700 mile car need a resto. Kinda negates the 1700 mile part.

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW

I was thinking the same thing Charley when I read the ad. I can see if the car was parked outside, but not if it was always in a garage/shop since 69. It would be something if it really only had 1,700 miles on it. I would have to take a look at this car in person to find out for sure.

He said it's been off the road since 1969... My guess is sitting in a field because it was wrecked. is there any truth to the idea that a canadian built muscle car is less desirable than a usa built car. not because of weather taking its toll or political reasons or anything such as that, but that its just not as desirable to collectors? and also saying any car in question has proper docs.

I¨ve always had the impression that a usa built car sold in canada, is a good thing, Beacause of the good GM documentation, and verification they have there, regarding the Canadian built cars, i dont have a clue,

Canadian built...what's the difference really...positive aspect is the doc's for sure...Oshawa put out some pretty neat GTO's . The condition can't be any worse than our northern stuff.

I talked with the owner Richard English and he told me the car was rolled over and needs the roof replaced so he decided to do the whole car. He is asking $120k US for the car finished.

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW

I don't get it. If the car is totally restored wouldn't the fact that it's low mileage be irrelevant? I'm guessing the $120k price is predicated on the low mileage distinguishing it from any other totally restored Z/28 (one with 101,700 miles vs. 1,700 for odometer purposes).

Looking at the pictures of the cars is showing me that they are not really that nice. You need to put the square tires on those cars if you want to get big bucks. They all look like they need to be cleaned up a little. Can't see any motor detail. Sam

The seller is Ricahrd English at Camaro Heaven in Ontario, Canada. I bought a camaro from Richard. I found him to be very honest, very knowledgable and not bashful at all when it comes to price. If you are a serious buyer and have the money I would not hesitate calling Richard to discuss.

Funny how he doesn't have any pictures of the car before the resto. If I had a 1,700 mile car, I would just replace the roof and that's it. I'm always leary of these cars that "come out of nowhere". There's not even any mention of it on his website. If you can't show recent pictures of the car before the restoration was started, it was probably a tag. Someone should ask him for pics.

I own the black car and pictures don't do it justice. The car is unbelievible its so fresh. The mileage is 1821 miles and never been tampered with. This car will never need to be restored. The original part numbers are stamped into the exhaust tail pipes and they look great too. I don't ever plan on driving it. As for the 1700? white Z28 I remember when that car first surfaced and I'm sure it was without the original motor and just over 2000 miles on a very bad rolled over body. What does his ad say now? Humm! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Maxx...His ad sure does not mention those facts. If a person were to beleive his ad, you would think it just rolled off the line. Don't seem right to me not to say what it really is.

Maxx 02-22-2004 01:23 PM

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW it d

Tony,
I'm not sure what his ad says but he's burned alot of bridges in the old camaro world as in person to person business such as vendors and show car guys and he needs more time to achieve that staus to the internet camaro world. Lets just say he was standing right there right afterwards of me buying my 1821 mile car and securing it with a deposit. I remember he was miffed cuz this black Z had lower mileage than his roll over. Him and Phil his current partner checked the car over real good and walked away in silence cuz they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. He didn't want to believe my car was real and he was bashing me and my car to anyone who would listen including strangers he didn't even know on the telephone. I know cuz these people call me to tell me what he has said. I let it in one ear and out the other cuz I know the truth about both cars and the mileage. Just last week he was caught bashing me again to a guy down south who called me and asked if I knew anything about a 1700 mile car up in Canada being sold by English. There are other camaro club members up in Ontario within the ICC of Canada that know that car. At one point in time he had a entire NOS Crossram set aside for it but had to sell it. The motor was the first thing he did on the project about 8 years ago. If you had the right motor already on a roll over wouldn't you do it almost last as if it needed to be done at all? Should be easy enough to track the paper work. There can't be to many guys up in that part of Canada doing re-stamped motors. And I'm sure hes burned that bridge by now so the information should be offered up pretty easy to anyone asking.

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW it d

I had a lengthy conversation last night with someone about this Richard English character. He apparently has done some very unethical things in the past. I was told that he had taken a 69 SS smallblock car and turned it into a Z/28. The car was a US car hence not documented. He told the unsuspecting buyer that it was a Canadian Z/28 and that he had misplaced the documentation. He then arranged to meet the guy at Carlisle to give him the paperwork but never showed up. I was also told that this can be confirmed by Dale Oldham, the President of the Ontario chapter of the ICC. Somebody has a beautiful red open headlight fake Z/28 that is not worth what he paid. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW it d

I am not trying to slam anyone. Part of having a site like this is to try and validate real and fake vehicles as well as find the truth about incredulous claims such as this individual has made. Let's face it, anyone who makes a claim that they have an original unmolested or near nothing mileage vehicle is going to get scrutinized whether they like it or not. Sometimes finding out about the reputation of the individual who is selling a car is a good start in determining the legitimacy of what that person is selling or claiming. How would you like to have paid out $120,000 for a vehicle and then find out it is not what you had thought and secondly it is worth less than half of what you had paid? I don't want anyone - whether their dream car is a Camaro or a Lada from having to go through that! If I can do my bit to prevent fraud or deceit I will. Don't think for a minute that Richard English is not reading this. He apparently knows everyone in this circle.

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW it d

I totally agree with the value of knowledge...we just need to be careful about what we "hear" about people.Maxx has personal knowledge of the car and that information is important..just don't want to see it get too muddy in here.

Re: I thought my 69 Z28 had low mileage...WOW it d

I have spoken to English at Camaro Heaven once, or twice. To me he sounded ok, we spoke abt. parts, and his cars.

I like to speak to people, not abt. people. And by doing this i hope people do the same to me.

But there is always stories to tell abt. people doing car biz,as a living. And often when there is a story to tell, it has tripled from the time the source tells his friend, that again tells his friend, who also has a friend that has heard that someone spoke abt something.

But again, to me its up to each, and every one, to decide what they mean, and would like to share with each one of us, from all around USA, and the world. Cause this thing is broadcasting everywhere(www).

Benny, do you recall the date on that red '69 z? I bought the ''original'' motor from that car, when I got it home I realized someone had doctored a 388 block to a 386 with some epoxy. I'm not here to bash Mr. English, but I would never purchase anything from him again. As I understand it a 388 block may have been acceptable for that car, but I have since sold that motor and don't recall the casting date.

Real Red - Do you have the VIN number from that block you got from English? I can contact the guy with the fake car. Not sure if he wants to add anything to this thread. One good thing is that as soon as Jim Mattison and/or GM comes out with our paperwork, he can find out once and for all and take legal action if warranted.

Here is the new English ad:

http://www.camaros.net/cgi-bin/cyber...hoto_size=full

He is being much more honest in his description. He says that it has been "turned over". Ya right - eggs are turned over - cars are rolled and wrecked. It's nice to see that he has come to his senses with the price - you can now get the rolled RS/Z for only $110k https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Hey Maxx - How would you like another black Z to go with your black beauty? It's an extremely rare and valuable car. It has - are you ready? Orange Houndstooth interior!!!! Here's the best part - you can get the car for just 4 easy monthly payments of $27,500 dollars. But wait! There's more!! If you call right now, we'll not only give you the car but we will throw in 3 bottles of Hardshell Turtle Wax so your new Z can keep that "my owner just got smoked" look for years to come......
