Passport Transport was hauling a load of cars for someone out of Missouri I think. The Driver got up yesterday and opened the trailer to find there had been a fire inside. I guess a 46 Ford Truck had the battery hold down bracket short across the bat posts and destroyed it and damaged the rest of the load, all owned by one guy with no insurance. Here is a pic of the supercharged T Bird that was above it. I think lack of Oxygen is what put the fire out.

The Hemi Charger some of you have owned [/ QUOTE ] HA HA. Charley update me on what that car brings. I think it's lot #641. I checked the Barrett-Jackson website but the pictures were not that good. Hard to tell the quality of the car. The VIN should start with XS29R0G if its a real one. He does have the correct silver reflective hood decals. He gets extra points for that, as the repros are white reflective material. While you're at it copy down the entire fender tag...and get me a notarized copy.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
Re: Barrett-Jackson 2004
So did some of you own that Hemi or not? Looks neat but has alot of undercoating, my favorite..

If you get a chance, post a picture of the fender tag. Always beware of undercoating! The factory sprayed-on body shutz should only be inside of the front and rear wheel wells. If the car had the additional factory undercoating option it would be rather haphazardly sprayed on in areas of high probability of stone impact, etc., not the entire bottom of the car covered from side to side. BTW, doesn't that car carrier have any insurance to cover that guys load of "well done" cars? |
Re: Barrett-Jackson 2004
If I was the Transport Co I wouldn't cover it either. It was the owners fault. My understanding is he charged the battery but put the hold down back on wrong, causing hte short and fire. Passport is owned by Fedex so I'm sure they are self insured.

Re: Barrett-Jackson 2004
Charley or Diego,
I hate to bother ya, but I noticed on the Barrett-Jackson site that there may be a high-priced 68 GTO going across the block. The description is below, but there's no photo. Could you maybe snap a picture of this car? It sounds like it "could" be a RAII GTO because they state it has a rare RAIV cam. Either that, or it's a typo. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif Thanks! LOT #199 - RESERVE 2004 BJCCA CCA No photos available. OPTIONS COLOR - RED TRANS - AUTO CYLINDERS - 8 ENGINE SIZE - 400 HORSEPOWER - 360 This is a very rare GTO; It is a multiple show winner and was judged Best in Class at the annual World Famous "Gathering of the Goats" show sponsored by the National GTO Association; It is a fully restored automobile with matching numbers throughout and is documented by the National Pontiac Historical Society; It includes the factory window sticker, build sheet, dealer order form and the Pontiac Historical Society documentation; It has the original matching number 4 barrel 400cid motor with the rare RAM AIR IV camshaft and it produces over 360 tire burning horsepower; It is fully loaded with power steering, power disc brakes, automatic transmission, ice cold factory air conditioning, rare factory cruise control, tilt steering wheel, tachometer, gauges, bucket seats, floor console with the original his/hers shifter by Hurst, Rally II wheels and rare optional hideaway headlights; There has been over $35,000 invested in this beautiful show car; It absolutely runs and drives like new and is very, very fast. |

Re: Barrett-Jackson 2004
I have been watching the Barrett-Jackson auction since it started. A 63 Vette "split-window" just sold for $33,000 about an hour or so ago. Somebody got one heck of a deal! I knew I should have gone!

Re: Barrett-Jackson 2004
Yeah also a nice looking 70 Chevelle SS 396 sold for 20K. They said that it may not have been numbers matching. Still a great deal nonetheless.
