Forum/Server move

If you're here, then you've noticed that we've moved over to this server. We're changing for the better, to a faster & more reliable server, hosted by "JoshPet", whom switched us all over, and has helped us in the past on some technical problems. We upgraded the forum software, which brought with it some more features, but also enables us to expand and add more features down the road. Mainly, though, this should eliminate the problems we've had as of late and allow this place to be more stable and reliable.

So, if you notice some wierd stuff happening the next couple of days with the website, please be patient, as it should be back to normal soon.

Looks great so far .......

Re: Forum/Server move

The look should be darn near the same, except for the added features. But, there should be a noticable increase in speed...even us "po folk" on dial-up can notice a slight boost in speed!

Re: Forum/Server move

I am on a DSL line and it is much better. It was so slow sometimes I would fall asleep waiting for big threads to load. It also has the correct width for my screen and the text doesn't run off to the right where I can't read it anymore. Thanks for the improvment... Looks good. Now if we just had a automatic spell checker.... Sigh.... Oh well we can't have everything..... But we can dream and who knows mabey someday.... http://host.threadshosting.com/~yenk...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Forum/Server move

I'm working on getting the "PM notification", or "car horn" as it's also known, back up and running, but it's still on the back burner. I liked it, but if someone didn't, they could simply turn off the horn, and/or the popup window, via "my home".

I should be able to set the counter to whatever I want, as soon as I get some other stuff squared away here. I've got 2 feature cars to get online, some more server business to handle, and a few other odds 'n' ends to do.

As for the "spell checker", it's on my list, but I'll have to see about the "attachment" search. Not sure how I could swing that one...

Did everyone notice that the server time is different. I had to adjust my posting times by -2 hours to correct the times I post compared to the servers.

Good point, Jeff.

For those of you wondering what he's talking about, scroll down to the bottom of the main forum page, to where it says "Current adjusted date is". If it's wrong, click on it, and adjust accordingly!

Wel, I got the "spell check" added lat night, and it looks like the domain switch has taken place, so all links should now work correctly. I've got a couple more additions planned for this evening, but the hard part is over with. Now I can get a feature car or 2 up...

Re: Forum/Server move

I don't know what happened but I have been locked out of the forum all afternoon. It would cycle back and forth between the forums list and then when I would select one it would give me a single link to click to get to the new forum which I had changed on my menu the day you changed over. It would just go back and forth and finally I decided it was not going to ever let me in and I tryed just about every trick I knew till I decided to reboot the computter and that did the trick. Now it seems ok??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

for some reason I'm getting an email notice for PMs now https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif I hated the "car horn" alert.. More than once I was feeding my daughter looking at the forum and unknowingly had the volume too high... the HONK! happened and scared the bejesus out of her. Made her jump and cry and she spit the bottle out... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gifDamn car horn https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Re: Forum/Server move

All of those issues are adressed in your "my home", Ed, and can be turned on/off. The beauty of this software is the adjustability to the user's likings, but not all people know it's available.

I would encourage everyone to take a look around their "my home"! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I had to go to -4 Jeff, you're 2 or 3 behind me so how did -2 work for you? It should be -6 or -7 for you... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Forum/Server move

The PM alert (or "car horn" as Mark puts it! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif) is back! But, if you don't care for it, you can easily go to "My Home" and turn off JUST the horn, or the horn and pop-up box BOTH. That's the neat part, as you can taylor it to however you want it. But, by default, BOTH the pop-up box and car horn was set to "on" for all users when it was re-installed.
