1 Attachment(s)
YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets Offered in an EXTREMELY limited quantity, these are 100% handmade, and constructed of top quality, glove soft lambskin. Originally produced by Red Dawg Leathers for Legacy Products Corp, the first batch of these was hand crafted in the late 1980's by George and Joseph Kurien. These were ultra-rare, with only a handful being produced before production ceased in the early 1990's. Used examples of these jackets have sold on ebay for well over 1200.00! We are proud to offer a second-run of these jackets BRAND NEW, hand-made by the original manufacturers to EXACT specifications of the originals. George and Joseph Kurien have verified that these will be made from the same patterns, materials, colors, stitching, etc. as the originals, identical in every detail. This is without a doubt one of the best made, not to mention COOLEST leather jacket you will EVER see ANYWHERE!!! Offered in very limited quantity, strictly on a first come, first served basis, in either M, L , XL, or XXL. They are made slightly large, so order your size accordingly. These jackets are certain to become instant collectibles, and they look and fit great! A true "must-have" item for any Yenko owner or enthusiast. Priced at just 695.00 each, these will not last long. ALSO: In an effort to promote and preserve the Supercar Reunion as the premiere event for collector car enthusiasts, $100.00 of EACH jacket sold will be donated to the "Friends of the Reunion" fund, in YOUR name! Don't miss this opportunity to own an amazing hand crafted leather jacket and show your support for the Yenko Sportscar Club and SCR7. These will also make a perfect gift for the holidays! Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets

I have one of the 5 [according to George Kurien] original jackets. He has assured me that the "new run" will EXACTLY replicate the original production jackets. He even has the 20 year old "Red Dawg" neck labels. George has agreed to get 3-medium [M], 8-large[[L], 8-extra large [XL] and 3-double extra large [2XL] jackets to you in time for VetteFest. These jackets will be made only for the sYc as George Kurien is very respectful of logo trade rights. He assures me that the same hands that produced the small order in the late 80's will be crafting these new run jackets. They're made in India [by brother Joseph] and they were fortunate to locate the very first original jacket in their pile of proto jackets. I paid $1,200 for my jacket from the 80's [wrong size for me] so I'll be glad to have one that fits and is made by the same craftsman from the same template of 25 years ago.

You know she's tough if she's tolerated my crap for 10-12 years. She was reluctant to pose for the jacket pics, but I assured her that we were all gentlemen here. Thanks boys... Hey Mo;
You been workin' out? You might be 6' and 215 standing on a beer keg! That's not bashing, Mo...just an observation. [I don't want to get in trouble with the forum cops.]

These jackets are cut slightly oversize, so I think that description would be a comfortable/loose fitting "XL", or a slightly snug "L". [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

Hey Rob,
BEAUMONTBILL [Bill Wertheim] just PM'd me that he wants a jacket. Size "2XL" is what he requested. [He'll be down to a "Medium" in 6 months with the sleepless nites and 24X7 days those newborn babies require.] Be sure to mark that order down, Rob...he's about to give me a price on a car I asked him to find for me.

Bob,
Rob and I wrote you down for a Large ["L"], but if you find it fits too loose...just put your wallet in the inside vest pocket to snug the fit. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
Okay Rob, here's a recap of the orders as of now. George, the manufacturer, feels sure he can have these delivered in time for VetteFest Nov. 21], so Tom can distribute them accordingly [in person, or via mail]...
If my bookkeeping is correct [let me know if I've forgotten anyone], the initial order I placed with George still leaves 4-"L" and 6-"XL" available for the first shipment by Nov. 21
I can place another order, later next week, to get some of any/all sizes [M-L-XL-2XL] in time for the Christmas Holidays. It's hard to think "Holiday" gift shopping right now guys, but get your orders placed by next Friday [Oct 31] and you'll be glad you did on Christmas morning when you go out to defrost your car windows.
You guys are a panic. Steve, your eyes must be going bad, I am the same six ft, 215 I have been for years, what, just because I dont have a big belly I cant weigh 215? I know this is accurate and I am not shrinking with age, my Doctor just made me stand against a wall for the tape and on the friggin scale for the weight. My wife says it should be a large, my Brooks bike leather is size 42 which I believe would be a large. I dont like being swallowed by my clothes, so make it a large, if it dont fit I will order a second.
Thanks,
Yeah...I'd say large for boob size 42 then.
Musta been the glare off your forehead on that bright day in Grand Rapids that made you seem "more petite". LOL
I'll change your order to size "L" then. [That should still leave room for your "peacemaker".] [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif[/img]
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Well Bob...try the large, then if you regret that size drop me a note and we'll work a swap for Medium if you want. Otherwise, I'll change it now and get a Medium coming. [Just don't tell everybody that I offerd an exchange so I don't get a bunch of that goin' later....ssshhhhhh.] Whatever you prefer is good-to-go for me. These jackets will come with a memo that warrants they are ONLY the 2nd run [ever] of the original run of 5 jackets in the late 80's.
SS
[Probably oughta buy one of each, then send the misfit to a fellow member that regrets not ordering after it's too late. Just my free suggestion.] I guarantee the first time an enthusiast sees you wearing it, he'll beg you for your spare. I put mine on the seat of my car at a show and had to finally put it away for all the attention it got.
I hate it that they only have Yenko jackets. I guess I will have to sell the house and buy a Yenko car just so I can wear one of these good looking jackets. Is there anyway that Mr. Motion could make one for us to wear???
LVCamaro 10-26-2003 05:37 PM
Re: I feel left out..! I want a Jacket too?
If Joel doesn't already have a "Motion" leather jacket. You should ask him for permission to produce one. These Yenko jackets are pretty "loud"...can you imagine the wild scheme that a "Motion" jacket would express. Seriously though, if Joel wants to endorse the project...George can do it up right. If you talk to Joel, let him know that all I need is a color scheme and layout [in hand drawn rendering is fine]. I can send him a template of the jacket so he can doodle on it to his liking. It would make a nice addition to the Motion memorabilia.
Payment Instructions for the Jackets ???
LVCamaro 10-28-2003 03:53 AM
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Charley,
I sent the cake for the entire order of 30 jackets to the manufacturer, George. I'll be meeting George this Monday to inspect the proto-jacket for quality and styling assurance that replicates the original limited run of 5 jackets in the 80's. Tom is going to get back to me tomorrow about whether to make the checks out to sYc, or what. I want to be absolutely sure that anyone/everyone that buys one gets the quality and styling that's advertised. In fact, if any sYc member is unhappy with the jacket or thinks it's not as represented...I'll buy it back. I want all the sYc members that buy one to be happy about the deal.
The short answer is Tom will post payment instructions on the forum next week, after my meeting with George.
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Were there really only 5 of these Jackets made in the 80's?
I knew it was a limited amount,but 5!
Why were only 5 jackets made,were there legal issues involved,and if so are they applicable today?
LVCamaro 10-28-2003 02:40 PM
Re: YENKO Supercar Leather Jackets
Well, sorta. The Importer initially ordered 6. George made 1 proto for the importer to approve the styling and scheme. Upon approval, George made the other 5 [keeping the proto for anticipated/immediate future orders]. On a hand-shake, George then made/shipped the 5 production jackets. Yep, you guessed it...the $$$ never showed up. It turned out okay for George though, because soon after some other Importer saw one of the "Yenko" jackets and really liked the "jackets for car nuts idea". He ended up buying a couple thousand red-white-blue "Corvette" jackets. I got one of those Corvette jackets years ago [1991] when I bought one of the first Corvette ZR1's.
Yenko leather jackets
Okay...Tom says it's okay to make the checks payable to "sYc". I definitely prefer to inspect the proto jacket first though, next Monday. Tom/Rob will need shipping info from buyers next week. For those going to VetteFest, Tom should be able to hand deliver some jackets at that event.
Only AFTER the quality inspection will Tom be requesting/accepting payment. I have every confidence in George's team, but I want to personally see/inspect the proto BEFORE money trades hands.
LVCamaro 11-15-2003 11:38 PM
Re: Yenko leather jackets
It looks like I'll be able to get 3-4 jackets to Tom Clary in time to take to the VetteFest show for display. I had hoped to have the total order of 30 jackets done in time for that event, but I didn't like the "sample" jacket so I made him re-do the fonts. The "proof jacket" had a couple very slight "sYc" and "YENKO" logo discrepencies, and I insist that this new run of jackets be limited to 30 EXACT replicas to preserve the collectibility. The proof jacket was very nicely stitched and the colors were dead-on with an exacting scheme/layout match to the original 5 jackets made in the late 80's. The "re-do" will cause about a 10 day delay to the original schedule, so I expect to be mailing everyone's order no later that December 10th. I'll let Tom decide who gets the precious few that will make it in time for Vettefest. If the 10 day delay causes anyone to change their mind, just let me know and I'll cancel your order. The main concern was getting an EXACT match to the original run. Believe me, the jackets will be worth the 10 day delay...they're gorgeous and extremely soft/supple and the silk-like liner feels like a designer suit jacket.
