1969Z/28

I removed the rear seat from my 1969 Z/28. I saw markings on the cross brace, it looked to be yellow crayon that said DG3. My car is fathom green code 57. Would these markings mean dark green and the 3 being X33? My car has a small Norwood trim tag. 11D 1968 when built. Thanks! Sam

I saw the pictures at Atlantic City. Also saw the car at Carlisle in the spring. Great Car! So do you think that DG means dark green and 3 means X33? Thanks, sam

Yes, I think I recall something similar on another early car (can't confirm that without some checking that I can't do now).

I also remember a discussion of seeing the X3 or similar on the brace, prior to the change in the cowl tag to include x codes. I also remember someone saying that they had found DG (I was thinking it was on the cowl, but it might have been the seat back area) to signify Fathom Green.

I have photos of two different Camaros undergoing frame off restorations. One has an X-3 and the other has an X-44 written in grease pencil. Both were written very near the top passenger side of the rear seat devider.

My X22 has X6 in crayon in the same place. Guess they new it was to be an SS396, just didnt know it was getting style trim?

My Dover white JD Yenko had X1 see attachment. This is also a X11 code code on the trim tag.

Thanks for all the help guys! I guess I can assume that (DG) means Dark Green and (3) should mean X33 style trim group for Z/28. I have no paper work at all so this should help me a little. Thanks, sam

I think Rick of Rick's 1st gen Camaro parts had a xram Z and it has DG on the firewall. If I recall it was a dark green car.

Yes, I have found an "LG 7" in yellow crayon on my first week in October 68 built 69 Camaro rear bulkhead. I have a light green interior and I am about 95% sure it was X-77 level trim. The engine compartment had white or yellow "RGRN" on the firewall for Rally Green body paint. Hope this helps.

Re: 1969Z/28

So, is is possible that the color shorthand on the rear bulkhead was for the interior color, and the shorthand on the firewall was for the exterior color?

Thanks Mark. Yours was the car I was thinking of.

Re: 1969Z/28

Yes Mark that does help. My car doesn't have the X either. I would assume that your 7 and my 3 means X33 and X77. If LG means light green my DG obviously means Dark Green which my interior is. The only people that need the X in front of the number is us, because in those days they knew what they were talking about but 33 years later it is up to us to figure it out. Makes me feel better.
