Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
That is a gorgeous car Kevin. I was curious, didn't you own a '67 Yenko RS at one time? Just wanted to get your thoughts on the desirability of the RS option over the standard car. I must say IMHO you have the nicest collection out there. Would love to have your 2 LS6's included in the LS6 registry I'm putting together. My email is "" Again a super car/collection.

Very nice car. How did it score? I couldn't stay till the end.

Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
Kevin, awesome car. I agree, you have the nicest collection, but your missing a car you need, a 68 L89.

Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle

Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
I would think SuperCars, '69 L89 Camaro Rag top fills the Bill since space is at a premium.

Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
Wow. I love the color.

Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
Very well done Kevin. I hope Jerry got to talk to you a bit about the history of these early cars. He helped me with some stuff for my car. Did you share with him the special pedigree papers from that well known SuperCamaro builder from Collinsville?

Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
Very nice car but I am not unbiased on this one.
Same color as mine so I have some research info on it. The color is Deepwater blue which was one of Don's advertised colors of choice for the 67 Yenko Camaros. It was not ordered in large amounts by general public. On the CRG color percentage estimation chart it comes in at 2.6 % of total production which is second lowest %. (The lowest is Sierra Fawn at 2.2 %.) My notes show 9 documented 1967 Yenko Camaros found so far. 1 white, 1 black, 1 yellow, 1 red, 3 Deepwater blue. Anyone know the colors of the two I am missing? May be two red ones but not sure. Ken, Did Dave L. work on the 67 Yenko Camaros at the Harrel shops or did he begin working there in 68? |
Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
Like JoeC, I'm partial to Deepwater Blue myself. Looks real nice with the rally stripes

Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
Mark: It's coming together nicely but I still have 3 pages of "stuff to do" before declaring success. I plan to have her ready for the local All-Chevy show in mid-August.
Frank: Yep, that's where I've been hiding out for the last couple of years. Car didn't always look like that: http://www.corvettes-musclecars.com/...net/Before.jpg |
Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
JoeC,
I am pretty sure Dave started with Dick in 1968, will confirm next time I talk with him. That article posted earlier about Dick's St. Louis shop shows Jim Gunthrie as Dick's mechanic. Also says Dick opened first shop in NM in 1965, went to Nickey in 1966. Maurice, I'm all for the burnouts. BTW, I have shots of the '69 funny with black headers and also later chrome headers. Which do you have? Are you going to install a pair of those little water spigots to drain the block? They attach to the headers. |
Re: 67 Yenko at Carlisle
Denis, It's been a long time coming but it certainly looks like it was worth the wait. Let me know if you ever bring it to a show out this way. I'd love to see it. So, what's next?
