Re: Stolen ZL-1
None of the four ZL-1's stolen from the Merollis lot or vin stamped drivetrain components have ever surfaced.

Re: Stolen ZL-1
A Penske Chev, Philadelphia, PA ZL1 was stolen from the original owner, never recovered to my knowledge.

Re: Stolen ZL-1
BARRY, Is he selling the dash Vin Plate? I assume to purchase or sell such a item would be a federal offense.

Re: Stolen ZL-1
HI I DON;T KNOW FOR SURE WHAT HE GOT

Re: Stolen ZL-1
Was there ever a question as to if these vehicles were stolen due to the fact that the ZL1's were so slow moving units from a sales standpoint. Four ZL1's taken at one time sounds like they may have wanted to get rid of them because of the cost of paying interest or floorplan on them.
Just a thought, I certainly am not trying to condem a dealer that may still be in business. |
Re: Stolen ZL-1
Tim, the dealer in question is no longer is business, I will never forget the radio and tv song, "Gene Merollis, What A Great Great Guy..." The question you raised is a very valid one that should have been asked a long time ago...

Re: Stolen ZL-1
Great guy or Great goodfella, it reminds me a bit of a story I heard years ago of a racer who ripped off a dealer and come to find out the guy he ripped off wasnt the kind of fella you went around stealing from. The only reason I found this out is because I was trying to find the guy because he was a
previous owner of one of my cars. The guy left town and I couldn't find a trace of him. The person telling me the story said he ripped off the wrong people and if they found him he'd be wearing cement shoes. Don't know if it was true or not but I never could track him down. I don't think all car dealers are connected but you'd think a block or trans with a vin would have surfaced by now unless they were never suppose to. Make a great pulp fiction story if someone knew a little more. Even back in 69 I think alot of people knew how much the engines were worth. I wonder if the blocks were decked or wound up in speed boats... really makes you think... |
Re: Stolen ZL-1
I was just told that a Cortez Silver ZL1 needing full Resto sold at a recent Pomona Swap Meet in the 150K range. Anybody else hear anything ?

Re: Stolen ZL-1
I don't see a Lemans Blue ZL1 listed as being sold by Penske, only Hugger Orange, Silver and Green.
|
Re: Stolen ZL-1
This one wasn't a blue one, although there could be another...

Re: Stolen ZL-1
Ed C. Have you been able to find out anything about the Brown COPO that was on e-bay? Curious to see if it was real or memerex!

Re: Stolen ZL-1
I did travel to Oklahoma and completed an inspection on this car. I will ask the owner when he receives the report if he would like to share the results of my findings with the public. I anticipate that he will allow me to do this.
|
Re: Stolen ZL-1
Hi ed, any information would be interesting on this car. Even if the owner wishes to remain nameless. Roger

Re: Burnished Brown Camaro
The past owner of the Burnished Brown Camaro in Oklahoma asked me to pass on the information of my inspection on the car. It has since been returned to the last seller.
In my written opinion to him, the car was not factory built as a COPO, but was rebuilt by a previous owner and sold years ago as a replica. |
Re: Burnished Brown Camaro
Thanks Ed!!!

Re: Burnished Brown Camaro

Re: Burnished Brown Camaro
I especially like the "No Reserve!" with a $115 starting price. Pretty hefty reserve if you ask me!

Re: Burnished Brown Camaro
Bob,
The brown COPO you posted a photo of is not the same one that was discussed in this thread. I dont believe the fake one was an RS, you would have to ask Ed for sure. Thanks, Motown |
Re: Burnished Brown Camaro
The car I inspected was not an RS.
|
Re: Burnished Brown Camaro
Bob...You might wanna delete your Pic of the RS as it is not the Clone being discussed here..
|
Re: Burnished Brown Camaro
I just seen a picture of the brown (clone) in an outo trader and Wagner's has it listed as a clone and the asking price is 57K
