Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
Charley, What an animal! I have piloted a seven second car in the past and am not easily intimidated, this car gives me the uneasy tension of the possible "Last Road Trip" just looking at it sitting still. This would be a ecentric car to put into production with the exception of the obvious liability issues that would evolve from the person with too much money and no driving skill. How is the center of gravity and handling characteristics on this beast? How bout a idea as to how many big ones will it take to part company with this rocket? Pm if you prefer. I am in awe....

Look at the 'dash' photo, I swear there is an ALIEN lurking next to Charley's left foot. Area 51 exactly.

Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
Thanks... It is actually too fast. If I was gonna keep and drive it I would slow the Blower down or remove it. It would probably make a nice 700 HP without the Blower and still be plenty fast. My 67 has a 532 that makes 630 HP and I have a Ball with it. It is still pretty Cool to scare the Bejesus out of your Friends the way it is though.
|
Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
We Detuned it today by changing the Blower Pulley and remapping some of the Fuel Injection Parameters. Instead of about 15lbs boost it should now be about 7 lbs. boost. I'm guessing it is now making 900 hp ? Not sure but I know it is making more than anything else I own. It is now alot more driveable than it was under full boost. Very fun to do 4th and 5th gear pulls. Still needs a new Home. Price is still 80K. And the AC blows cold. You can also change the boost back if you want very easily.

Had the Animal on a Dyno Today. Here is a pull with the lessor boost pulley making about 11 lbs of boost with 91 Octane Gas. The Readings are at the rear Wheels.

I then changed the pulley and Belt to up the boost. It was looking good, making power but needs more Fuel. We never got to really bump it up because the 3" inlet Hose split wide open where the water injection fitting is and dumped all the boost. Now I need to relocate the water nozzle.... WOW this thing is Cookin....

Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
Nice numbers. We have a local guy in our club that put out 1102 hp on the dyno with his Vortech supercharged 383 LT1 in his 97 SS 30th anniv conv. He still had the original block in that car and ran a 9.04 with it. And he still drove it on the street.

Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
Charley you do nice work!
I have to say this car has been on my mind more than once since you posted it for sale, if it was a '67, Oh man I would be out of my mind by now trying to find the money. Bud. |
Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
It's really a nice/clean engine-bay to put out that kind of
right-now surge of HP & Torque--Very Professional--JoeG |
Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
Gee Thanks but I did none of the work. I bought this car a couple years ago as a stock type Restored like the GM Styling Black and Gold ZL1's only Yellow. I later sold it to my Friend Jody Bernard as he was wanting to start with a really nice car and then make it Wicked . He did all the go fast stuff and then ended up selling it back to me. Just needs somebody to send me a Check.......

Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
Joe, go for it only thing it will probably bounce so hard it may set a new speed record!!
Now if everyone would just buy there Trophies from me, Charley and I could come to some kind of agreement on the car. Bud. |
Re: 69 RS ZL1 Clone-Pro Touring Animal
A Link to two of the Dyno runs I hope. Dyno runs If you watch the intake closely at the end of the second run you can see the water Injection nozzle blow out....
