Gas Prices
1 Attachment(s)
https://www.yenko.net/attachments/33986-gasprices.jpg Came accross this clipping and got to wondering what everyone else was paying for gas these days. Regular unleaded here in Mobile,Al. is at $1.559 with diesel for the powerstroke dually at $1.749. I hope this thing with Irag is resolved soon.

Re: Gas Prices
I paid $1.77 for a regular this morning, 93 octane was $1.99. I thought the biggest thing driving up gas prices is that oil production in Venezuela has all but halted.

Re: Gas Prices
Forget it...with the refinery fire in Indiana and the blast in New York you can bet they won't be going down anytime soon.

Re: Gas Prices
Gas Prices?
In Norway we pay 5,80$ US for a gallon!!! So i would be happy to pay US prices NEW |
Re: Gas Prices
Damn, and you guys in Norway never bother anybody,For some reason the Oil Barons don't like your Country neither.I don't think there are many Countries that the US has helped out of JAMS in the past care too much for us anymore
Look at South Korea, the young people there do not like the USA at all,and if it was not for the USA the young generation may not even be here with us today!! Bobby |

Norways high gas problems are not cause by oil barons but a far left liberal/socialist agenda of a cradle to grave nanny state. Most of that $5.80 per gallon is taxes. Another cause is the wacko enviromentalist "greens" in many of the European countries have gained power in the last few decades and through legislation want people out of their cars and into mass transit. High gas taxes are one way of doing it. Sad to say but the US is heading in that general direction of a cradle to grave nanny state. What's worse is most American people are sheeple and don't care. Dave P.S. Just talked with a Mustang friend of mine in Victoria Australia and they have banned sandblasting because it hurts the environment. |
Re: Gas Prices
Well said Whitetop....now is the sandblasting thing for real...is it even possible that someone thinks sand hurts he environment ???

Re: Gas Prices
82z I've been living here in Mobile all of my life. How often do they meet and do they have a big turnout. What is their agenda at the meetings?

Re: Gas Prices

Yes Victoria has banned sandblasting. I don't think all of Australia but just that area that I know of. The edict was sandblasting creates dust microns which are above a certain size that are not allowed to get in the atmosphere. Companies are still allowed to sandblast but they have to have the equivelant of a downdraft paint booth to control/filter/recycle the dust. Home type sandblasters the hobbyist used have been outlawed and there are major fines if getting caught using one. Look at our own Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. Some counties have outlawed backyard barbeques and now you are not allowed in some locales to burn wood in your fireplace as it creates smoke pollution. The Green Party in Europe is very strong. In the US it would be the equivelant if Ralph Naders party got into power. You know the same guy that killed the corvair, does not have a drivers license and has emphatically stated he would create legislation to get cars off the road in mass numbers and require people to use mass transit. Much of the legislation behind the Green party is not about the environment but "people control" as they are tied in with the socialist & communist parties to build their power base. Notice who was protesting the war against Irag in out own cities? Look at the bottom of the signs they were carrying. Tada it was sponsored by the Workers Party of America which is/has been a communist based organization and at one time was funded by the USSR before they went bellyup. Sorry for the rant. |

We'll see how many of these brave souls stick around when the action starts happening. I wonder how many bought one way vs two way tickets. During the Gulf war we were dropping 15,000 lb "daisy cutter" bombs. After the drop a second plane would immediately fly over and drop leaflets saying we were coming back the next day with the same thing. The Iraqies surrendered in droves. Our troops 20km away said the concussion and vibration would knock you off your feet if you were not standing stable. Car alarms were going off in Ridyah? Saudi Arabia when one of these bad boys hit. BTW our new daisy cutters are 21,000 lbs. |
Re: Gas Prices
We definitely have some nasty stuff....be a lot cheaper if the guy would just resign as whatever leader they call him...

Re: Gas Prices
Could someone explain why diesel fuel was always cheaper than gasoline until I bought my Duromax?? Now it is sometimes the same price a premium!! I thought diesel was less expensive to produce! Jim

Re: Gas Prices
out here in sunny so. calif. i paid $2.18 per gallon for 91 octane at chevron today.man was i fuming while watching the price going faster than the gallons
|
Re: Gas Prices
NWYenko, I always thought diesel was cheaper to but it has slowly caught up and passed the gas prices. I saw a sticker on one of the pumps the other day that said there was .43 cents tax on each gallon. I guess the government is to blame for a cheaper product being more exspensive.

You can go to the offical website if you want to try and find more stuff out: http://www.gcfba.org/ There is also a big Trans Am show that they are going to show cars in Pcola on March 14-16 2003. Hope to see ya there. |
Re: Gas Prices
Government and Taxes!
In Norway as said before we pay almost 5,80 US$ for each gallon, and that is pretty much the same if its diesel or gas! Concerning cars, if the cars are newer than 30 years, they double or sometimes tripple the price you payed for the car in taxes before you get plates on it, so a 50 k$ new US car like a Corvette is 200 K US $ in Norway before it has license plates on it!!!! THEY ARE CRAZY! NEW |
Re: Gas Prices
Geez I think I would be moving or something due to those prices (JUST KIDDING OF COURSE) but I do feel for you guys over there in Norway. The Goverments can come up with some very interesting ways of getting into our pockets!Hope things get better for you folks there on the prices,or at least do not go up anymore.

Re: Gas Prices

just wondering, you say 5.00 something for gas over there, but is it like Hawaii and Alaska were the cost of living is made up by salaries. Example when I went to Hawaii couple of years ago a taxi driver told me that he made around 50000 a year (yes I said taxi driver), but in the next sentence he said it cost him about 48000 in yearly living expenses so he doesn't get to save that much a year. Is this kinda of true for you? |

I don't think it is the same as Hawawii. My sister lives in Germany. The tax rate is something like 80%. The wages are not adjusted for this like Hawawii vs Midwest US. You do have free (with an 80% tax rate !!) health care, college education etc. The average German does not have private homes in a suburb setting like we have in the US. Most live in condo's or apartment style dwellings with maybe 2-5 units attached together. There are some higher income Germans of course that have some acreage and toys(cars boats etc) but I don't think the average German has the discretionary income we have over here. I think they have the general mindset of wanting security over liberty. Basically they want the government to take care of them i.e. a cradle to grave nanny state and their willing to give up some freedoms for that. Not sure about Norway but probably very similar. |
Re: Gas Prices
HI!
In Norway the average industrial worker wages abt. 40 K - 50 K US$ A regular industrial worker, after building a house, getting the car they need, and maybe some kids, and then maybe once every year or so, taking them for a holiday trip , will not be able to save up very much. However the schhols are free, the healtcare is free, but if you have some kind of healtcare problem you will have to wait in line to get for example an surgery for maybe years if it isnt life threatning. Some political parties say they want to change some of the tax stuff, but i have my doubts, on the regular salary you have abt. 35 - 45 % tax, on every last thing you buy, there is always a standard fee to the government on 24 % on all things that can be bougth and sold. In the citys people live in apartments in big houses with lots of them, but just a bit outside the citys, most of the people have their own houses. I am lucky enough to have done some right things concerning money, investments etc, so i am not complaining, but for the man on the street that has a regular 9 - 5 job. things could be better. The banks, and credit institutions here wants something between 7 - 9,5 % interest when you want to make a loan for a house, or a new car. Anyways, just some info on Norway. NEW My opinion is, vote for USA |
Re: Gas Prices
Hey I could be happy making 40 50 grand as an industrial worker. Maybe i should buy a jet and commute to Norway every other week. New you think you could set me up an interview. Being a realtor, can't also expect a check. 40 50 grand in the bank would be nice.

Yeah get over here, iŽll set you up, but iŽll have to tell you the Government will ask you to pay Norwegian taxes as well,,, By the way, iŽd have to take your 02 ZL1 as a fee to set you up NEW IŽll promise you, youre better of in the US |
Re: Gas Prices
NEW, How long have you lived in Norway? I am curious how did you become interested in the Yank Tank American SuperCars? I think it is great to see people from outside of USA with interest in these cars.

JOEC!
I am 28 years old, have lived since i was born! My father has always had american cars, and when i was a kid, he had Mustang, 442, Cadillacs and so on! IŽve always been very fond of the Camaros, and iŽve got a few of them now that i really like!, Novas 66 - 67 is also a favourite, In Norway there actually is quite a few people interested in, and owning old american cars, But there isnt many that understand all of this matching numbers thing and so on yet, they think if it is a 69 Camaro, it is, even though one is a 6 cyl car that looks like a Z, and i show up with my original 69 Z.
