I am reposting this car with a more detailed description.1968 camaro, fathom green, ivy gold bench seat interior, column shift correctly coded Turbo-hydro 400, stock LS6 454 450 HP closed chambered motor, Hooker coated headers with 3.5 inch exhaust system, aluminum Be Cool radiator with B&M high capacity trans cooler, severe duty driveshaft with solid 1350 u-joints,12 bolt positraction, 4.11 ratio, new drag radials, stainless steel 4-link style traction bars, global west tubular subframe connecters and solid body mounts, GM restoration parts walnut steering wheel, original and detailed floor and trunk pans, 67-68 big block frame mounts, original window sticker and protect-o-plate,this is a three owner car since it was new and has always been well cared for, raced only twice and ran 11.83 at 113 MPH 1.61 60 foot on drag radials and was raced at 2002 Supercar Reunion where it spanked the #3 ZLI GMMG yellow camaro while shifting at just 5500 RPM so it wouldn`t embarass the owner too bad after he spent $60,000-$80,000 on that joke of a overpriced car. This is the car for the person that will never ever be able to afford a real Yenko or Baldwin-Motion and wants to know what it was like to drive one one of those supercars back in the day. This is a very nice car put together properly with lots of factory HiPo parts and nobody will be disappointed. $15,000 or best offer, call mark 314-757-9744

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
Mark,
The "embarassed, spanked, overspending owner of car #3" is a heck of a nice guy. He lends alot to this hobby and this board. At HIS expense he drags his cars to shows thru-out the year so others can see them and enjoy them. He brought BOTH of his #3 ZL-1's to last years reunion all the way from the west coast. You have a very nice car, Mark, I saw it run and took pictures of it at the strip last year. The way you have your add phrased is probably not the best way to sell your car. Re: 68 Camaro LS6
I agree with them Mark.
Charley is a heck of a nice guy with an incredible personality to boot! What he pays for his cars has nothing to do with this, and what he shares with us is an asset to this Hobby. But even if he wasn't,your sentence there still is uncalled for,and a cheap shot. It says more about you, then it does about him.... |

I think you can tear up your application to become a hostage negotiator.

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
Everybody just calm down. I met and enjoyed speaking with Charley at the Supercar Reunion quite a bit. I found him quite down to earth and was pleased that the man that holds the titles to the most influential camaros in the country found time to look at and compliment me on my camaro. It was just a little good natured ribbing and those who cant deal with that need to go hang out with the mid-year corvette snobs because we all know how most of them people can be. Regarding the new ZL1 camaros, how can you not see that these cars are an effort to cash in on the ZL1 mystique because their performance has been unimpressive to say the least. Anybody going to grudge night at their local strip will see daily driver SS/Z28`s running comparable time with simple bolt-ons.

Plus I heard Charley likes getting spanked...at least thats what Motown told me.

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 2003 ZL-1 #3 did NOT have the 427 in it at the Reunion??
|
Re: 68 Camaro LS6
If I'm not mistaken, #3 ZL-1 ran a high 12 at 113 with the LS6 just prior to the Reunion. I'd hate to think what it would trap now with the C5R...

[/ QUOTE ] I for one am not amused by your post. To hammer a prominent member of this board (Charley) and his car, simply to try an sell a "cheap" imitation of a supercar is uncalled for. It was bad enough at SCR5 that, that after being turned away from parking indoors, you just had to crowd your way into the lineup of real supercars for the supercruise, as well as show up at the track and once again butt in. All the while with a big "for sale" sign on the car. Charley and others were gracious enough to inlcude you in SCR activities, and this is how you say thanks. I feel you owe Charley an apoligy and as far as I am concerned, you need to take your "crap" elsewhere. And people wonder why I dislike clones. |
Re: 68 Camaro LS6
tom, i dont understand why you feel the need to make the people who dont own supercars feel inferior to those who do? granted this guy we're talking about is an idiot but still.......

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
Huh? So I am to let this guy bash a car owned by one of the nicest guys in our hobby? Sorry, but not on this board.

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
Mr administrator, I think you need to have your memory refreshed. I asked you if I could bring my car indoors and you said no.I was fine with that as I also watched you turn away the blue dog dish hupcap 69 yenko camaro clone. I guess you think that 11 second monster is "crap" too for showing people what a real yenko should run like. I then asked you if I could join the supercruise and race with you guys and you said that would be fine. Also the "for sale" sign was never on the car during the supercruise or during the race, only when the car was parked. If you didn`t like it, you should have confronted me then not while hiding behind your keyboard like you are now. Why do you think that if somebody cannot afford a $150,000 car that you can call all other cars "crap"?
|
Re: 68 Camaro LS6
Hey, this starting to get good! I have a 150K car that I won't drive and some people think that is "crap" also!

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
After reading the last post (by SYC) I couldn't help but write...Sorry if this offends anyone but then again...
I will be the first in line to say that the original post was out of line, but so is this reply. This reply in affect shows the complete utter dis-respect that us "non-supercar" owners get from some members (in this case the owner of the board no less..)of this board. Maybe my eye sight isn't that good, but no where in the original post did I see "Clone" or "Yenko wannabe," so why is his car an "imatation supercar?" It appears to be a decent car. A car that origianlly start life probably as a small block that has had a BB put in....sound famaliar to some...Ghee wasn't that the "original" "supercar" concept???? Maybe some of us can't spend 100k+ on one car, but that doesn't minimize our cars... Maybe you should apologize to the rest of us "non-supercar" owners for trying to be an elitist and coming off "holier than thou" simply because you have a car that has Yenko stripes on it and was sold there...Just food for thought. |
Re: 68 Camaro LS6
First of all, I will stand by my original statement, that I feel the remark was out of line, period.
When I said he could take that crap elsewhere, I meant his bashing of a well repected board member, as well as a friend of mine. If some of you you would like to read more into this then that, (supercar vs non-supercar), so be it. As per the car, at SCR5, which was being dedicated to Nickey Chevrolet, I was told by the owner that it was a Nickey clone. And, IMO, it was a not a very good imitation, not even close to any of the three doucmented Nickey cars parked indoors. But, with this said, I allowed him to be a part of all activites, except parking indoors. This car and several others non-supercars. And, I never said a word negative about him or the car, until he came on here trying to sell the car, while at the same time bashing Charley. Remember, he is the one who brought up the SCR and bashed Charley. |
Re: 68 Camaro LS6
I consider all the HIPO cars "super cars"! These are the ones you seen at the strip in the 60s. Most people back then did not know what a Yenko,Berger,Motion or Dana even was. Cars like Rick Peters Chevelle are more "rare" than most so called "super cars". ( I hate to keep picking on you Rick) It does'nt matter what you have, whether you show it or drive it. Just enjoy

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
Greetings, As a long time watcher, I now feel it is the time to reply to a post. This site contains a wealth of information for "ALL" visitors. The text of the original post is lacking in respect to the owner of the ZL-1.But that type of talk is as old as racing itself. The reply and implications by the "SYC" adminstrator I feel offends all non-supercar user's and vistors of this site with what comes off as a " You need to worship my Supercar" feel. The non supercar crowd plays a important role and has many valuable contributions to this passion we all share. The original poster should realize his view is not shared by all and the administrator should realize he has offended many with his reply. To the Father's who will enjoy tomorrow with there familys and cars( Super or not). Thanks for good info and enjoy the moment... Life is fragile!!!

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
I second that... When you get right down to it...the Z28's, L34's, L78's,LS5's, and LS6's were what most people owned and still to this day that is the "bread and butter" of the hobby. These are the cars that when the market self corrects will take the least "hit" and what your average "joe" looks at fondly at a car show. While it is nice to have a trailer queen that is worth 150k, it is far nicer to the majority to have a clean, strong running car they can pull out and not be afraid to drive. IMO that is why I am seeing less "100%" restored cars and more clean Day 2 cars. IMO it is the best thing that can happen for the hobby...

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
The crap Tom was refering to, I am sure, was the attitude of the poster.
Tom would never refer to ANY car as crap. He likes all cars. He even traveled thru two states to buy some sort of 6 cyl lumina or chevette or something like that. As far as wht car can be at the Reunion...........It is HIS show. i think most who attend want to see copos, yenkos, nickeys , motions, harell, gibb etc. there was limited room inside and it was filled last year with th above cars. t This year there will be outside parking for all other cars What is the big deal! One of these years the clarys are gonna say the heck with it all and a good thing will be gone. |

Re: 68 Camaro LS6
I find it funny that as soon as a visitor comes on to a site (like THE SUPERCAR REGISTRY)and bashes a memember that they get their feelings hurt cuz they get fussed at for bashing a member. Not only that, but others will finally feel they need to post to support the visitor. Get real!
This site is about the super cars, the title doesn't say Joe Billie Bob's Camaro Forum. I started visiting this site to learn more about super cars not learn how john q public built a camaro in his garage that can out run yours. I didn't have one, but I at least respected the ones that did. Maybe I am wrong, but if your being bad then expect to be reprimanded. If you don't like it leave, go back to camaroz28, thirdgen, etc. Thats were all of us garage mechanics hang out and talk about who can build better and who we can beat. Don't be a baby. |

QUOTE: This site is about the super cars, the title doesn't say Joe Billie Bob's Camaro Forum. You're absolutely right 82z96ss,this site is about supercars and like you I hang around to learn and exchange information, that's why everyone should try to keep the subject on track when people get into a pissing contest, otherwise the site will turn into the JOE BILLIE BOB'S CAMARO FORUM----IT DEPENDS HOW MUCH BLOOD YOU WANT TO DRAW BEFORE ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Re: 68 Camaro LS6
The original poster did a couple of things wrong
1. When trying to sell something, you shouldn't risk offending any potential buyer needlessly. No cracks about politics, religion, "your wife looks pregnant, is she expecting?", "your daughter's cute, does she put out?", etc. These do nothing to further your cause of finding a buyer. 2. Sarcasm, or smart-ass needling, is very hard to pull off on web boards. The viewers have no idea of context, and you can't do a roll of the eyes or a smirk to indicate your meaning. So often these things are taken at face value, to no good effect. I've learned this the hard way a couple of times, and offended people needlessly. Longtime members of a board can get familiar enough to do a bit of this, but someone who's got less than 5 posts can't expect that anyone's "in" on their joke-nobody "knows" you yet. sYc (TOM)'s response was direct, but understandable. He interpreted someone was using his forum to attack a respected friend. Kinda like if someone came up and borrowed your golf club to take a swing at your buddy. It just wouldn't sit right, you know? I interpreted the "crap" remark as a reference about the negative comments, not the car. Many less-than-supercars have been listed here with no ill comments or quiet deletions. It is the "Super Car Registry", and the home page defines their mission pretty clearly. Initially I was upset that the page didn't cover Mopars by Mr. Norm, KR-8's by Tasca Ford, etc. But then I read the home page, saw the "Chevrolet" part of the statement, and figured it out. (I don't turn on ESPN and bitch about the lack of music videos, even though they're roughly equivalent-overpaid people who are supposed to entertain me.) You can claim elitism on the part of supercar owners, but can you tell me that a group of die-hard Corvair owners would eagerly embrace a wanna-be in a Porsche 911, because he claims his car has a rear-engined, air cooled 6 banger, too? Should that be his ticket into their owner's club? Envy and Arrogance are two sides of the same coin. Both seem to undermine the balance of this board at times. But ultimately the greater good prevails and things get back to normal. TOM |
