News from the Auction front.
The Brown Camaro from Wagners showed up today at the Scottsdale Classic and was promoted as a real COPO. The suspect bidding reached about 70K but the asking price was around 90K. There were not more than 20 Bidders present. At Russo and Steele check in was the ever moving White with Blue interior Lamar Walden COPO. Weather was about 73*.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Thanks for the update. When Reggie owned the Brown car, did he promote it as a real COPO or a clone? If he shows up at the auction, you ought to ask him about it. It's about 10 degrees here in NJ right now, I'm just happy my truck started. Hope you didn't forget your sun block!

Re: News from the Auction front.
Got to Barrett-Jackson yesterday and there isn't much there yet.. We did see the '69 BLUE Yenko Camaro. There were a couple of nice '69 Z-28's also. It is Carroll Shelby's 80th Birthday so there are alot of Shelby's, Mustangs and Cobra's. The big auction days are Friday and Saturday, the Speed Vision Channel will be broadcasting Both days for sure. I will post more later. Like Charley said it is in the low 70's and feels even warmer. Re: News from the Auction front.
Update: Went over to Russo-Steele today and Ole Red Alert is upfront on display (AWESOME CAR) also next to it is an LS-6 with (26 Miles) Red Original. 429 Boss Mustang and a Hemi Cuda, also (2) nice '67 SS Chevelles. We are getting ready to go to the Big GALA at Barrett-Jackson tonight and tomorrow they will start to auction some cars. Stopped at a grocery store and picked up a trader and it had an ad for a '69 ZL-l Camaro (really) all it said was Expensive.. I'll keep posting. Mark

Re: News from the Auction front.
Mark,
Be the first to give us all the skinny on the LS-6's. I am sure Bill is anxious as well. |
Re: News from the Auction front.
Mark, keep an eye out for some really good fake LS6 Chevelles from the southeast. Not sure if they went to Russo/Steele or Barrett-Jackson, I think the later.............RatPack..................

Re: News from the Auction front.
Any real JL8 Camaros at the auctions? I need to make sure I wasted all my money on the right car. Think I could pay off my mortgage with the money I have tied up my car at this point. Maybe one of these days I'll learn.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Looks like one of the Bruce Larson F/Cs sitting behind "Red".
Charley, do you have your camera with you? Always some great shots from you. |
Re: News from the Auction front.
Guys, Went to the Big GALA last night at Barrett-Jackson and there were several cars on display: Reggie Jackson's ZL-l (white) Claiming Original Engine, the hood was shut and when guys tried to open the hood they would get stopped. Don Johnson's HEMI CUDA (yellow) was also on display and some guy opened the hood and the engine was a 440. An ALL Original L-88 Corvette (blue-original paint) also on display. Saw a Nice Red CROSSRAM Camaro at Barrett-Jackson. Russo-Steele had a YENKO (clone) Camaro red/white air and a 454 Engine. Auctions start today and we'll post some prices later. I met up with Charlie and hope to see somemore guys today. Mark

thanks for the report "man at the seen" Mark.
Maybe you can get job with CNN? Funny that the BL FC is sitting behind the Red Alert. I am looking for more pics of it for "SS427 Rick" but only found this FC pic from GM Nationals disk. Red is behind the BL FC. |
Re: News from the Auction front.
There are some on the NICAB site but I am interested in more detailed stuff like under the hood, rear end, interior. Anything to show the day 2 drag stuff would be neat. Thanks for looking out for me Joe.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Rick, I should have taken more of Red. Much of the car is still original and low miles other then the drag stuf.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Does anyone know if there is a live link to BJ action?

Re: News from the Auction front.
Mark, about a year & 1/2 ago I sold Reggie Jackson what is believed to be the original block to his white ZL-1 camaro. The car was originally owned by Lamar Walden and matches the white COPO that has previously been discussed on the site. The block sat in Lamar's shop all these years. I carefully examined the casting and stampings both partial VIN and assembly date and it looked legit to me. Reggie would not sell me the car, so I ended up selling him the block. I'm not sure whether it was ever installed in the car once I shipped it to Reggie.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Can anyone get up close to the 28 mile 1970 Chevelle?
I would LOVE to see detailed pictures of that Chevelle.I wonder if it will bring 295K? Is it roped off? |
Re: News from the Auction front.
What was that block worth to Reggie?
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
Enough that I chose to sell it.

Re: News from the Auction front.
Reggie has the block and had it repaired. I don't think it is in it but I think it goes with the car. I am taking some pics but this new Camera is way too smart for me. So it wil take some time to post more pics. Saw a really cool 54 Chevy 3500 pickup with a Factory turbohydramatic 4 speed auto from the factory. Also saw a 72 Chevy pickup with 1200 miles. The Variety of really neat stuff is what always amazes me. Alot of very nice NO RESERVE stuff.

Re: News from the Auction front.
That makes two of us! I would love to see some pictures too. Thanks

Re: News from the Auction front.
Mark, Can you keep us up to date on what the red crossram car goes over the block for. I'm one of the few guys that can't watch the program over the weekend. Thanks
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
I wonder if this was the car at a Sarasota dealer.....
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
If your asking about the red crossram Z28? I'm following this car because I restored it in 2001 for a local customer here in Michigan. I think it came out of a collectors private collection in Kentucky.
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
Maxx, you can follow it on the Barrett Jackson web site also

Re: News from the Auction front.
So Charley, what are you buying?????
|
Re: News from the Auction front.
Maxx...was it recently at a dealer in Sarasota ? I saw one there a few weeks ago..

Re: News from the Auction front.
The LS-6 is NOT roped off we can walk right up to it--Original and even has the General white lettered tires. Reggie is SELLING his Baseball shirts, he has his own booth. A '71 Black/white Chevelle SS Convertible (clone) went for $18,000 -- a '55 Chevy Convertible went in the $60's. The Big Buck cars will start tomorrow. Thanks Joec. I'll do that

Re: News from the Auction front.
Belair62 The cars new home is Phoniex AZ. I watched it leave MI with Select Transport. Beautiful car with all matching componets on the Z. The tires wheels and trim rings are all original GM. The engine compartment shows super nice as the crossram intake was perfect. That car pulled very hard with the off road racing cam. I was sad to see it go down the road. Starting another one real soon with JL8's this time.

Re: News from the Auction front.
