Found the following '68 Harrell Chevy II photograph's posted on the Webshots.com website. Not sure who the owner of this GEM is, but it doesn't appear to be Ray's. Kim?

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

That's Mark Fuss' car in AZ. It's not one of the 50 COPO Novas in '68, but was a 4speed car apparently converted to an L88 by Harrell. I think it was purchased out of Kansas or MN??

Marlin,

Just curious... even though this isn't one of the original 50 COPO cars, was it always common practice for Harrell to add his badges to conversion cars also?

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

From what I have seen, yes. I have seen Harrell cars that were tuned 396's, COPO 427's, and converted 427 cars, and all of them had the Harrell badges, and usually the little stickers as well.

Marlin that looks like a cool car. I love originals. (at least this one looks as such) Is he the original owner? Original selling dealer?

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

Frank;
Mark is not the orig. owner, it's not orig. paint, and I don't know where it was sold out of. I know that it was taken to Harrell for some type of conversion. I remember that there was doubt at one time as too what the conversion was, and if it was for an L88 or ??. I don't believe there is paperwork with the car, but it always had the Harrell emblems. Mark has had it for a very long time.

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

Hello;
These are my pics of Mark's car. He is not the original owner, no it definately is NOT for sale. If anyone has any questions on this car you can email me or else call Mark direct. He is listed in the Phoenix phone book. He will be happy to discuss this car and it's history. As for history, Mark has owned this car since 1978 and it was always in this condition, ( bench seat,t400, Alum head L-88). Mark purchased this car in Milwaukee. Mark said the person he bought the car from found it in Oklahoma sitting behind a speed shop. These pics were taken by me at the cruise on Central in Phoenix.
Bill Z.
PS. Marlin this car was NEVER a 4speed. I already told you that in the post on the Nova board. If you would like the info from the "horses mouth" so to speak, just do a search for Mark Fuss in Az on the net and call him.,

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

Sorry 'bout that, I get Mark's car confused with another '68 Fathom Blue, 427, alum. head Nova in NY, but from AZ, that is a 4speed. I tried to edit my post last week when I realized my error, but it was too late.

Marlin I dont think any 68 novas came from harrell or gibb with the metal badges only the square riveted tags. I have looked at 13 of the gibb cars and none have the badges I think there only on 69 or later cars. Kim Howie

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

What about Swezey's '68 Harrell Chevelle? I think that one has the emblems (?) I wonder how Mark's car got the emblems, maybe they were put on later?

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

Marlin, I dont about chevelles . I just never seen any on novas. Marks car I think was a car from Allen chevy it may have been built later and Harrell had maybe started to put them on at that time. They may have been put on later who knows. Kim

I understand, that sounds feasible.

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

Joe's '68 did not come with the metal emblems. Joe just attaches a set when he shows it. They have a magnetic backing, so are not permanent. Tom

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

Thanks Tom, I had forgotten about the magnetic tape he has on the back.

So, if the Harrell emblems didn't start until '69, and the '68's have the riveted tags, I wonder why Mark's Nova doesn't have the tags? They may have been removed when the car was painted, and the emblems installed in their place?

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

From what I have read about Marks car in his NNN article and from A friend who has seen the car and talked with Mark, the car was prepped by Harrell in early 69. He may have started using those tags by then. I remember someone telling me the dates on the 427 were early 69.

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

From the research I have done the Harrell medallion is not used before June 1969. There may be some slop there but not much. The early 69 cars only used the rivited tags. The 68's never had the medallions. Joe had a set and put them on using magnetic tape and a special bracket he made for the grill. They look cool, but are not original to the car. His early 69 Harrell SS 427 Camaro has the rivited tags...BKH

What was on Ray M's 68 COPO Nova Harrel 427 car ?

sYc 11-08-2002 01:24 PM

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

If memory serves me correct, Ray's '68 did not come with the medalions, only the tag/stickers. He did get to ride with Dick and got a free T-shirt though, which he still has. Tom

Re: Harrell Nova on Webshots.com

Tom your right. The crests were for the 69 cars unless one of the 68s were a leftover car then its possible crests could have been added.I believe the car I told rob about in a wrecking yard near you was a 68-69 and it had the emblem

Tim:

It's ironic you should bring that car up...just yesterday I may have gotten a possible lead. I read back through the original thread, but you might PM all the details that you know just in case.. You still accept finders fees, right?
