RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

We just found a little old ladies 1970 4 door nova with low
miles. The car is as plain jane as they come but i noticed it has a super mint rubber mat. Would this be the same mat as the deuce has ?

If it is, I need one badly. I would send your choice of new repro rubber mat or new carpet and pay the cost of exchanging it, etc, if at all possible.

I only have the part numbers for 2 DR here at work. If someone else does not chime in, I can check the parts book when I get home. Groups 15.286 and 15.306A. Greg

I'm showing no difference between 2dr and 4dr in the October 1st 1970 Chevrolet parts catalog.Just different numbers for different colors.I would think they are the same fit.Part#7731717 Black rubber mat 1968-70 Nova.

Re: RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

As long as it's a 2door rubber mat, pull it out. It doesn't even matter too much on the year. Some years have the seat belt anchors in a different place, but that is easily fixed when you cut a new hole by glueing the plug into the old hole. You use a bicycle patch kit on the underside to repair the incorrect hole.

All the mats are black, the different colors are just lacquer paint on the top side only. A gallon of lacquer thinner, a scrub brush, some elbow grease and some black lacquer touch up paint is all that is needed to remove the color and make it look new.

If Kevin doesn't take it, I certainly will

Re: RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

I asked about the mat because someone has already laid claim to it for their 2 door nova and I wasn't sure it was
correct. If that deal falls through I'll contact kevin first and then marlin. Thanks for the info....Anyone have a thought on what this mat is worth.

Is there a difference in a 1970 Nova 2dr compared to 4dr rubber mat? If so is it just size?
None of the parts books specifies this.

Re: RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

Did these rubber mats have any pattern embossed into them other than the overall graining? We came across a repro set for our '69 300 Deluxe SS396 Chevelle and they are plain pebble grained.

Re: RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

The remnants of mine were just some pebble type grain and was black underneath and blue like the rest of the interior on top. I also noticed it is very thin stuff. would cars have had A pad underneath or just the rubber flooring?

I looked at the mat and it definetly has pebble grain texture. It doesn't seem real thin though. It also appears like it was originally black. The interior of the car is tan.

Re: RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

Our repro rubber mats came from Ohio Mat, I believe. They came with some front floor insulation. The thickness is fine but they are as stiff as a board when cold. Out in the heat of the sun they become very pliable. Definitely not a winter install project. The car came with carpets when we bought it so I don't have originals to compare to.

Re: RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

The original mats have a much larger grain than the repos. Old mats are quite brittle, very hard to remove without breaking. They did have jute insulation under them. Heat does help. Schonye

Re: RUBBER MAT IN DEUCE

be careful with the mats i just had a trunk redone on a driver and it had a mat . sudden temperature changes will create condensation and sweat and no where for the moisture to go guess what it ends up like, rust in the trunk pan, i removed my mat right away only to never install again, will roll up and lay in trunk for a show only.
