For insurance, Hagerty and Grundy are good choices. Both have online sites, give instant quotes and allow pleasure driving.

For insurance I use Parish Heacock in TN. I also used their most trusted appraiser who just happened to be located 25 minutes from me. This guy appraises all of Cliff's cars, and had actually seen my car sitting in Cliff's warehouse for all those years. Good thing I didn't try lieing about anything, he knew as much about the prior condition, mileage, etc... as I did

I use and highly recommend Hagerty Insurance. They are very easy to work with and they allow me up to 2,500 miles per year on each car to be driven.

Great information--I'd like the online information on Haggerty Insurance. Please help. Having a Hard Time getting the Motion insured thru American Collector's Insurance don't know why as they have all my other cars.
Thanks alot, Mark

Mark, I had trouble with my insurance until I gave them examples of similar cars that sold on auctions like Barrett Jackson and others. I am still thinking of switching to Hagerty Insurance because I have heard a lot of good comments about them including paying claims.

Re: SUPERCAR APRAISER

Hagerty insurance is great, 2,500 miles per year allowed, and great on paying claims. They have what is called an agreed value policy. You are able to give them the value you consider your car to be worth. Although they don't ask for an appraisal, it would be safe to say the car's stated value must be within reason. When it comes to appraisers, the problem I've seen in the past is that they ask me what the car should be worth. But like Tim says though, it may be wise to have an appraisal on paper as documentation of it's value just for peace of mind.

Re: SUPERCAR APRAISER

Wait till you hear what they want--They want the Original window sticker--a cancelled check for the amount I paid for the car--they Don't want Joel Rosen's Letter... They don't want it Appraised Either!! I don't know what to do??? Mark

Re: SUPERCAR APRAISER

I think Hagerty is the way to go. You can apply online, you can email them a picture of the car and you set the value. Then just mail them a signed application and the premium you obtained from their website and you're covered. try www.hagerty.com Grundy insurance works about the same.

Re: SUPERCAR APRAISER

State Farm which is one of the leading insurers of Automobiles has a special classic car policy and the premiums can be very reasonable for existing customers.

Many agents are not aware of the Classic Car policy.

Re: SUPERCAR APRAISER

I've been with American Collectors Insurance for almost 2 years now and think I may change. They insured the car for amount payed the first year then said they would increase after that but when I called to raise coverage they said it's all they would do. I don't think the girl I talked with knew much, she couldn't find values on my car and had lots of trouble finding the values of the add ons (engine, tranny, etc)needless to say they haven't raised coverage yet,but do go with agreed value which is probably the most important part in the event of a claim. 3500 miles a year is what they allow me. Re: SUPERCAR APRAISER

Skip the State Farm Classics insurance. It's not an agreed value policy (it was a few years ago and they changed it). I went round and round to confirm what they would pay if a total loss occurred. 'Comparables and book value', even with an appraisal. I don't think so!
Have State Farm on the house and other cars, Hagerty has the 69.
