Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
1 Attachment(s)
Thanks go to Tom C and his family and all who helped and to those who brought cars and memorabilia. Thanks also go to Tom S and his brother for providing an excellent presentation on the Nickey dealership history. It was great to see all the cars and meet the people who visit the site. Where else can you see a traffic jam of SuperCars? Attached is a pic of the 'guests of honor' 3 Nickeys in a row.

Attached is a pic of a 68 Motion L88 Camaro and it's proud new owner. If you squint your eyes a little, he looks like a 16 year old kid who just purchased his first car!

I was working late, we are in the middle of our annual financial audit here at work. Plus, I don't have a box trailer, or a truck to pull it with yet. Hopefully, next year!!

Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Trucks and Trailers were parked at the convention center this year instead of the hotel parking lot? Were some of the cars parked out in front of the conv. ctr., like Mark's Motion car?
|
Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
You guys are making me drool in my keyboard! Maybe my JL8 will be done by next year, but I doubt it. How about some statistics of all the cars that showed up.

Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
What a GREAT show!YDR,they were parked at both places on Saturday morning. The photo of Marks car was at the Saturday night cruise. It was at a Chevrolet dealer about 12 miles away. The dealer was nice enough to feed us and host some extra treats when it was time to leave.Lot's of tire smoke from quite a few Supercars!Joe B. had one hell of a collection of memerobilia as well( both in the dealer and reunion).Great show and a hats off to all who cruised to the dealer, open headers and all......

Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Great show Tom!! We had a great time! Nice to see and meet the board members there. Moving the show to Collinsville was a good move. Plenty to do there. I didn't see my wife or kids most of the weekend! Class act with class people. Put me down for next year! Don't know what I will be bringing, a year is a long ways away! Maybe Kevins motion car if Lopata can get it for 35k!

Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Ha-Ha! Soon as you sell that Orange Duece to someone for $10K. Good to see you there, along with everyone else too! Remember you owe me dinner.
I had met a good bunch of Yenko site members at Chevy Vettefest shows, so it was great to finally meet guys that hadn't typically gone to Chevy Vettefest. Thanks to the Clary's for all the hard work as well. |
Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Dad will chime in later, but I want to send a big THANK YOU out to all those that attended, whether you brought a car, brought memorabilia, or just attended. Remember, without any of you guys, it's just us sitting alone in a BIG empty building!

GREAT JOB Clary's, I just have one question--How are you going to top this show next year???? The show gets the BEST of the BEST and this year was the most cars I've seen and I've been to every reunion. In Tennessee at the reunion I was Only a spectator and now I'm a Super Car ADDICT!! Now I'll have to buy something new for next year. Tim are you reading this??
Take care, Mark |

Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Anyone have pics of YS-703, the white 67 I sold to Holub? I'd like to see what it looks like with the new hood.

Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Thanks to Tom and all those behind the scenes guys. Had a lot of fun, met some new folks that shared neat stories about the past. More of you fellows need to make it to the strip, that just makes the weekend. A Supercar isn't fully restored until its sorted out, and actually makes a decent pass. (IMHO)
|
Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Joe, thanks for the pic. The new hood looks sharp (good fit & color match) and I noticed he also added a Yenko emblem to the grille. Both additions look nice but aren't original. According to the first couple of owners, it was quite the sleeper with the only indication of supercar-ness being the "427" just below the "camaro" legend on the fenders. By 1970 or so, it had a fiberglass tilt front end, stripped interior with roll bar, a God-awful paint job (according to the owner), and "White Rat" scrawled on the rear quarters!

Denis, Do you know if it came with headers and scatter shield? It appears that Dick Harrell and part of the Yenko Stinger crew were building some of the 67 Yenko Camaros and advertised them as AHRA legal cars. heres pic of rear view.

Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Here's a snapshot of part of the original window sticker with the options for this particular car:
http://www.corvettes-musclecars.com/...nkoOptions.gif I just noticed now for the first time that the car is supposed to have chrome hood latches per the window sticker. |
Re: Thank You Tom and family - SCR5 was a great time
Thanks Denis, it did have the headers and scatter shield. This is similar to the other 1967 Yenkos that Harrell did. I got a few tips this weekend on this info and will have to follow up on them.
I believe this wht 67 is an original "K" 375hp car. It just needed a short block swap but Yenko was set-up to do additional modification on the Stingers such as headers and safty items and appears to have done this with 1967 Yenko Camaros. Maybe under advice from Dick Harrell as to what is needed for AHRA. This is one theory anyway. |
