'02 Supercar Reunion: Saturday night cruise ?'s
 

Yeah, I know, this is the wrong forum for this, and a moderator should know that, but I wanted to be SURE everyone trying to make the Reunion sees this.

We've been contacted by a local (Collinsville) Chevrolet dealership, who is interested in giving us a place to cruise to and hang out at Saturday evening. They said they would provide the food, drinks (sorry, no alcohol!) and places to park (as in "park in the showroom"!) as well as covered parking outside, the dj, and all of the extras required to make this thing "go".

Now, the only things they ask in return are a "guesstimate" on the head count a few days in advance, and that some Supercars actually show. Of the 20 cars that have sent in their registration forms, 13 said they were going to cruise. Anyone else, supercar or not, planning on cruising with us Saturday? EVERYONE is welcome, as the more people we get to the cruise spot, the better. From what we have talked with them, this sounds like it could be a GREAT time for all, and could be something for everyone, including the wife/kids.

So, does this sound like something you attendees could get into?

How far is it from the show? Is the dealer having an "open" show/cruise that night?

I think they said it's like 10 minutes. Now, this is what I "think" he said, as I'm unfamiliar with Collinsville, but I think he said it's back through town on 64. He said a police escort would be done, which leads me to believe that he did say back through Collinsville, as they do that regulary for cruises.

I'm not sure what he specifically has in mind, but it sounded pretty much like the more the merrier. He didn't have anything going until he found out about the Reunion, but thought it would make a nice cruise spot, and was willing to provide food and entertainment.

Would any of the non-cruising cars consider trailering to the cruise spot? Just trying to get an idea...

I would really like to go but don't know if I can drive it with the 4:88's and the Open Headers!! I will go for the trailer idea.. Sounds like a Good Time and something different to do.. Will we be together as a group?

4.88's and open headers would sound awesome and w/the police escort....no tickets. Can you imagine the look on the spectators faces when Mark cruises in with that beast? I think the cruise sounds like a great addition to an already exciting weekend.

no alcohol! thats the only way someone could convince me to take the nova for a spin is if i had had a few! is the dealership about a 1/4 mile away? i would maybe trailer mine. [img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

I started to say that we had 4.56s, so the crusie was gonna be as "interesting" for us as it would be for you and your 4.88s...but maybe we should let Brian lead...he's got a ST-10 w/5.13s!!!! We could probably swing an "escort" for you for the trip back...I'm not sure if she's a cop, though...!

Is the escort a sure thing? Last I heard the State Police will be visiting Laharpe next year, glad they looked the other way this year. I think it would be fun trying to find Dick's original shop and stopping by on the way to the cruise. Count me in, even with the 5:38's.

Everyone we have talked to so far has mentioned the escort, so I'm guessing it's a fairly regular thing. Of course, they haven't specifically said WHERE they would escort us TO...!

Kevin: are sure you would rather trailer that thing! Sounds like the cruise is gonna be a lot of fun!

I may drive my convertible up again. I was the guy with the black '69 RS SS 396 4-speed. Last year I used a half a tank of gas up and a half a tank back.

Mr gasser's orange COPO just found a new home, it looks like it will make the reunion. My 69 Camaro RS SS ZL-1 transplant will also make the trip and the cruise Saturday night.

Charley wouldn't have a chance then. Of course he might be able to give it a blast of Nitros to get away from us, if he can ever figure out how to work it, or find where the switch for it is.......
