1969 Harrell Camaro
1 Attachment(s)
This is a 24,000 original mile car with all original drivetrain. Documentation includes statements from the original and second owners. I am the third owner. Needs restoration.
More info on the car can be seen at this link on this site: https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...art=1&vc=1 The picture I have attached is one the original owner sent me from the early 70's. I will try to post some pics of the car as it looks now ASAP. Thanks, Jason |
Re: 1969 Harrell Camaro
Sorry, I have not taken any more pictures yet. Just to awswer a few of the common questions: All the car really needs is paint and undercarrage detailing. Rust is hardly worth mentioning and is located under the trim on the front fenders and a very small spot behind the rear window on the driver's side. The interior is original and immaculate. The drivetrain it extremely solid and is original to the car. The engine is a L-88 with the L-78 steel heads from the factory engine. The trans is a turbo 400 with factory console. I can be reached at (808)328-2214 or e-mail . Keep in mind it is 3 hours earlier here than in California.
Hope this helps, Jason |

Sorry about not getting pictures for all who asked. It seems liek everytime I get a chance the weather is against me. I will get better pictures as soon as I can including ones of the car in the lift to show the undercarrage. Here is a picture I took real quick.

Peter,
Have you received any of the private messages I have sent you? I just checked and they don't show in my sent private messages section. Private message me, e-mail me at , or call me at (808) 328-2214. Thanks, Jason |
Re: 1969 Harrell Camaro
The car is still for sale. Just to let everyone know shipping to California is $1000. Don't let the fact that it is in Hawaii shy you away; the car has been in indoor storage in a car capsule since its been here.

I found an old SS&DI mag that had Harrell doing a 4 speed to Turbo 400 conversion on a 69 427 Camaro. The car was blue and had slots, black interior, no 427 emblems on the car. You said your car had the 427 emblems deleted when new. It had a funky cowl induction type hood scoop with a groove down the middle. It was wider than the stock GM cowl hood were all familiar with. I believe it did have a console but was modified for a Hurst Dual gate or maybe it just ran the Hust console I will have to check. Could this be your car? Maybe this is why you could not get a # of the tranny. Dave |
Re: 1969 Harrell Camaro
Thanks Dave. Sounds exactly like the car with the exception of the dual gate. The car had an unmodified factory console shifter. That is the hood it had when new. The car was built for a fellow funny car driver by the name of John Penso. The car also had a tow bar mounted on the front which I still have. I know the car is real, but the more documentation the better. Unfortunately, the car is no longer mine. It belongs to another member of this site and may even be repainted by now. Sorry if has taken me a long time to reply, I have been in the mainland for a month now and rarely have time to go on the computer. To the member who bought the car, I have the front bumper, tow hitch, and maybe a few other parts here in CA that I will be glad to send out if you send me your address again. Hope you are enjoying the car(how could you not?)

I will check in the article to see if the car had tow bar brackets. Where was your Sun Super Tach positioned? The article said Dick used all factory GM parts on the conversion. Dave |
Re: 1969 Harrell Camaro
whitetop,
Which SSDI was it? |
Re: 1969 Harrell Camaro
68topstock
Checked the issue. It is 11-69. Also the interior is white, not black. Does have a Dual gate consol. SSTach is on the dashboard. Has Harrell badges right below the Chevrolet emblems. No tow bar brackets. Dave |
