For Sale - 1969 L-78 Nova

1969 L-78 Nova SS; Dusk blue/black vinyl hardtop exterior with deluxe black bucket seat interior. Additional options include wide ratio four speed manual transmission, 3.55 to 1 ratio positraction rear axle, power brakes, AM/FM radio, center console, "SS" steel wheels, and custom exterior trim.

This Nova has a matching numbers driveline (with a few minor exceptions, everything on the car is dated correctly for the time frame that it was manufactured), paper documentation, and ownership history. The car received an extensive body off restoration by the Supercar Workshop in Latrobe, PA which was detailed in multiple issues of "Nova Times" as well as my own personal photographic documentation of the restoration.

The car has been shown several times and has earned both Editor's Choice and Sponsor's Choice Best of Show (as well as First in Class and attaining Gold Class) at the 1999 Nova Nationals, Chevy/Vettefest Gold Spinner in November 1999, First in Class and Best Restored at the 2000 Pittsburgh World of Wheels, and First in Class at the 2000 Super Chevy event at Maple Grove.

Asking price is $60,000. I can be reached by e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at (717) 259-0971... I will be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have.

If you are looking for the finest restored L-78 Nova for your collection, this is it.

Regards,

Stan Falenski

Thanks for your interest... There are a couple photos up on this site although they are a bit small.

Car Photos

I'll post additional photos and attach them to this thread tomorrow morning. They should be a bit larger and provide more detail. If there is an area of the car that you are particularly interested in, let me know.

Stan

Copo Pete and Mr. 70; Rowdy Rat has put a special filter on this very attachment. If you have more than two or three high performance Chevy's already, then you can't view his attachment. This was done as a safeguard to help prevent cornering of the supercar market

I have 3 SS427 Impalas and I can't read the attachments. Do high performance BOATS count???

mr70 only has one so he should be good to go. Might have trouble squeezing in that garage however.

Very nice Rowdy, excellent restoration! I am glad to see I am not the only one who puts overspray on the intake, exhaust and by-pass.

Re: For Sale - 1969 L-78 Nova

SS427,

Thanks for your comments about the Nova... I can tell you that with Brian's help, I did everything possible to restore the car as accurately as possible.

The intake manifold was oversprayed on this car during the restoration because there were traces of orange paint on the manifold and it was pretty obvious that engine was relatively unmolested. While the overspray was not as heavy as that found on earlier big blocks, original 1968-69 Corvette big blocks with aluminum intake manifolds typically show some overspray IF that area was hit with the paint gun. If it wasn't, the intake surface of the heads didn't receive any paint and is bare as well. Obviously this isn't a Corvette engine, but both engines were assembled in Tonawanda and it DID show the same overspray pattern as the Corvette engines I have observed... So that's how it was redone.

The exhaust manifolds on this car were not painted. With few exceptions (all during 1968), I personally haven't seen an original Corvette engine (post 1967) with painted exhaust manifolds. I don't believe that Brian disagreed with my observation (I don't want to put words in his mouth - he can reply as to his own experience) and the finish was left natural.

For those who are still having trouble with the individual photos, you might want to try right clicking the mouse on the link, highlighting the web address under "properties," and pasting it directly into your browser. I don't know why the link keeps coming back as "forbidden."

Regards,

Stan

Re: For Sale - 1969 L-78 Nova

In regards to the exhaust manifolds, I understand wanting to keep originality and not paint them but will it look good to have rust underhood? Why not Jet Hot coat them? I have used Jet Hot several times (they are right in PA) The grey finish looks like cast iron and has a rust proof finish which is guarenteed. I always hate when I look under the hood of a beautiful car to see rusted exhaust manifolds... Just a thought...

Beautiful car BTW...
