Old Owners
Sorry to bother you guys again, but the hunt is going well. I am looking for a former owner of my Blue Yenko Chevelle his name is Robert Serrano, in 1978 he lived at 3738 N. Wilton in the Chicago area.
Also Jack Douglas, who owned Jack Douglas Chev. in Hinsdale IL. Thanks for all the E-Mails |
Re: Old Owners
James I did a white pages search on AOL for Metro Chicago and came up with 2 ROBERTO Serrano's. Try Yahoo white pages or some others. Unless it was Roberto I struck out.

Re: Old Owners
I found only one "Robert Serrano" listed in all of Illinois. And, bingo, he lives in Chicago.
Serrano, Robert 3721 Ashland Ave Chicago IL, USA 60613-3601 Phone: (773) 5492563 I also did a reverse search on the address itself, to see who lives there today. Allen, Michael 3738 Wilton Ave Chicago IL, USA 60613-3966 Phone: (773) 9293306 Rosbolt, John 3738 Wilton Ave Chicago IL, USA 60613-3966 Phone: (773) 6652361 Good luck. |
Re: Old Owners

Re: Old Owners
I just want to let you know that with all of the e-mail I have received from everyone on this sight, I was able to locate the orginal owner who still had the Protect-o-Plate and 32 dealer repair invoices from 1969 through 1975. I also was able to to trace the car's history from 1969 to today. I own several collector cars and NEVER was able to trace a car's history as easy as you have made it. I will post some copies next week when I get to a scaner. THANKS AGAIN James https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif

Re: Old Owners
Cool. What was the original owner's reaction when you contacted him? Did he want to buy the car back?

Re: Old Owners

Re: Old Owners

Re: Old Owners
Mike, do you have a street address and/or town listed on that '73 title?
|
Re: Old Owners
Denis; Yes, I have it. It is as follows:
Thomas A. Stubbs, 43 Dalewood Rd., Clifton, NJ. Date of Issue:6 29 73. Here is the VIN 136379B404108, it's a Fathom Green with Dark Green Bucket/console, Tac/gages,F41,L72,M22,NC8....Pretty rare COPO, with all these options. It has been Certified by COPO Connecting, back in 1996.I would also like to know, how I can get this VIN run on NICB, to find out what dealer sold it New. NJ only keeps logs back, for 10 Years. Any help, would help to finish Docing this Rare COPO Chevelle....No, it's not for sale.. Thanks, for any info, MIKE https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif |
Re: Old Owners
There's only one Thomas Stubbs listed in all of NJ.
His address is a mere 12 miles from that given on your paperwork. Stubbs, Thomas 14 Marshall St Irvington NJ, USA 07111-8633 Phone: (973) 4161653 If it's the wrong guy, there are only two other possibilities listed in all of NJ. Stubbs, T 1008 Inland Rd Forked River NJ, USA 08731-5210 Phone: (609) 2429183 Stubbs, T 734 Stewart Ave Bridgeton NJ, USA 08302-3133 Phone: (856) 4511757 As a last resort, try calling all the neighbours. There's no current phone # listed for the original address, but here are three of the neighbours' numbers, including that of the house immediately across the street (this is a residential street just off the Garden State Parkway). Don't laugh -- I was able once to find a previous owner by calling a neighbour who not only remembered the car but knew where its owner had moved to: Costa, Rosangela 48 Dalewood Rd Clifton NJ, USA 07013-3402 Phone: (973) 7796761 Eusebio, M 44 Dalewood Rd Clifton NJ, USA 07013-3402 Phone: (973) 4726930 Obrien, K 47 Dalewood Rd Clifton NJ, USA 07013-3401 Phone: (973) 7780940 Can't help you with NCIB reports. If you find out how to get at 'em, let me know because I also have an undocumented 67 Z28 which I can't trace back beyond 1976. Good luck, and let us know how everything turns out. - Denis |
Re: Old Owners
Thanks, and will let everyone know, how it turns out. Had a state trooper, that said he located him, but nothing since then. I'll check into these numbers, and post it. I know at least one neighbor remembers the car, but don't know which one, we'll see. Thanks Denis...regards, MIKE https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif

Re: Old Owners
The original owner's reaction was, "I have been waiting for this call a long time." He did not ask to buy the car back he just wants to see it when it is in his area.
The search for old owners can be very hard, I have about 250 hours in this search. All you need is a few pieces of the puzzle like A69COPO2 has, alot of paitence and some good help like I had on this websight. |
Re: Old Owners
I very much, agree, the folks on this site, are very helpful and I enjoy posting info, if I can help. This car will get a full ground-up Restoration, as it deserves. I have run into brick walls, some of the previous owners, didn't want to help. I'll just keep looking under all the stones, until Mr. Stubbs and I talk. This car was never registerd, by a few owner, this makes it difficult. I'm just happy the 1973 title/ partial build sheet came with the car.
If their's some one out, that lives in Cliffon NJ area, that knows of a 1966-67 GTO running a BBC with a four speed, namely my 427. I would like the name of this owner and phone#. This is a rumor, that I'm also chasing. Car was drag raced and had some other parts installed, that through me off into another direction. I under stand that NICB, can direct me to the dealer that received this car, just don't know how to do this part, any help on this, would help alot. Thanks, again Denis, and I'll be calling these People today, will post as I find things out. MIKE https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif |
Re: Old Owners
Denis, I know alot guys who raced at Union Grove in the 70's. I wasn't in the area at that time but many of my buddies often talk about the Yenkos that ran there. I don't know how many times my friend Bill will bring up the time he beat a 69 Yenko Nova there in 72'. I'll ask about Cokebottles maybe something will turn up.

Re: Old Owners
Denis, does that mean your the one that talked Kevin out of the 67 ? Cool....... https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif

Re: Old Owners
Denis,
Great Lakes Dragaway has a website, www.greatlakesdragaway.com . Maybe you can get in touch with the present owners, or leave a message on the message board on their site. The present owners have had the track for a few years, they bought it from "Broadway Bob". I would bet that he knows "cokebottles". |
Re: Old Owners
Charley, yep, she's mine now. Still at Kevin's until I clear my wife's Mustang out of the shop. I plan to show it at the mid-March Roadster Show here in Seattle.
|
Re: Old Owners
Denis, 30 minutes to find the orginal owner, you hit the loto. Where did you get a polaroid of your P-O-P? Mustang?
|
Re: Old Owners
Mike, Back in the 80's there were some magazine articles doubting the COPO Chevelle ever was built. I have in my notebook that a guy by the name of D. C. Bulna wrote in to the magazine stating that he worked at Malcolm Konner Chevrolet in Paramus, NJ. from 1966 to 1970. He remembered that Konner's received a delivery of five 427/425 hp Chevelles from the factory. One TH400 and four 4sp cars. He also stated that all five sold by the end of the week for about $3500.00.

Re: Old Owners
JoeC:
You wouldn't to have his phone#, would you? I'm pretty sure Mr. Stubbs isn't the original owner, but this is the last known owner. Copo Connection, stated that there were only two dealers, near him. N.J. DMV, only kept record for 10 years, and being this car was last registerd in 1973, they couldn't help. I'll keep checking, so far, nothing uncoverd. Re: Old Owners
Mike - I found a web site for Malcolm Konner Dodge in NJ. It appears to be the same family. I also found this on the web site "In 1986, as a tribute to Malcolm Konner's dedication and influence, Chevrolet Motor Division manufactured 50 special "MALCOLM KONNER COMMEMORATIVE EDITION" Corvettes."

Re: Old Owners
Just last night, I hit the jackpot myself.
Using a name I pulled off a photocopy of a Polaroid of the P-O-P for my 67 Yenko, I contacted the original owner on the first attempt. As in turns out, the original owner lives 3-4 miles from the address listed on the P-O-P, near Madison WI. His name (Gregg spelled with two g's) made it easy to find him in the telephone listings. Total research time: about 30 minutes. What a blast! Prior to this phone call, I don't think we knew anything about the car before 1990. I got to confirm what kind of badging was used on the car (no YSC emblems, only the 427 badge on the fenders like in the Span Inc photo -- plus something on the hood he can't quite remember), the correct spare (Charley, you might be getting your SpaceSaver back https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif), how fast it ran (low 11's with slicks), and more. He promised to try to find some original photos which, unfortunately, his ex might have. Been there, done that. So now I want to trace it forward from the original owner. He sold it a couple of years later to a local mechanic/racer who drag raced out of Union Grove in the early 70's. His nickname was "Coke Bottles" because of the thick glasses. Any of you 'old guys' remember who this might be? I'm thinking maybe it would be nice to reunite the original owner with the car at the SuperCar reunion, and maybe see if it still runs as hard as it used to. That'll give the trailer queens a conniption fit, don't you think? https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif |
Re: Old Owners
Some of the posts indicate that titles searches were done in NJ. It is my understanding that NJ will not perform a title search from a VIN.
If I am wrong please let me know how to have one done. Thanks |
Re: Old Owners
MikeA:
When Ed tried to find all prevous owner, to my COPO. NJ DMV, sent the money back, and stated that they only keeped records for 10 years. Being that my car was last registerd in 1973, and plates weren't keeped on it, they had No record of this car. We have called Mr. Thomas A. Stubbs, but got an answering machine. So, as soon as we get in touch with the first gentleman, we will try the others, given to me. regards, MIKE https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif |
