Yenko at Toronto Auction

There is a Lemans Blue Yenko up for sale at the Toronto Classic Car Auction next month. Does anyone know anything about this car? The first thing I noticed when I saw the picture was the wrong colour grill and the incorrect master Cylinder.

Got a vin Tom. I heard about this car last weekend at the London car show. I was told it was black https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/crazy.gif ! I'd want to see some paperwork, and lots of it before I bid too much!

OK, found the site. VIN124379N614075. Suppose to have Yenko documentation. According to my paperwork it's a correct vin. Sold at Francis Chev in Bridgeton MO. shipped April 11 1969.

Could this be the car from the Russo and Steele Auction? Bet...BKH

Pete, I will not be bidding on the car. Right now these cars are out of my league and are only a dream, or a goal, depending which day you catch me on. Most days I'm happy with '69 L78 and Z.

Re: Yenko at Toronto Auction

If it is the one from Russo Steele, the buyer paid alot for a real Yenko that had issues.

I was at the auction today and cannot believe what i saw. The car was bid to
$131,000 U.S. and was announced as sold.
I was later told that there were some
"issues" regarding the reserve and the seller did not accept that offer. WOW!!!!
Seemed like a nice car but not by any means a concours type restoration. Does anyone
know what happened?

I was at the auction myself and find it hard to believe that the high bid was "real money".If the high bid was truly legit they should have their heads checked for not accepting it.The car is not of concourse quality and is owned by the auctioneer's, need I say anymore. You will probably see the car again in Michigan at the next RM auction.

Something just doesn't sound right about this?

Does not sound like the same car that was at Russo. Wonder if these guys are using it as a draw to their auctions and at the same time waiting for that REALLY BIG BID!!! Jim

Re: Yenko at Toronto Auction

4 or 5 years ago I was seriously interested in a L34 RS/SS Ragtop that was at the Auction. It was owned by one of the Muscle Car Dealers in the area. I won't mention his name, but you've all seen his show on Speed Channel. When this car came up for auction, the bids wre coming in, but I saw no one bidding on the car. It quickly went beyond what I felt the car was worth. Next month, the same dealer still had the car for sale. When I called him about the car, he just said the deal fell through. I believe they had someone bidding just to drive up the price of the car.

I agree with Nicola and Thomas. It is the same style of Auction just a different day! Canadians for which I am one don't step up to that plate unless there is something left on the bone. See you at the Cruise on Monday Nick!

Do you know the purchase price?

Thomas 04-18-2002 05:47 AM

Re: Yenko at Toronto Auction

I heard today that the car was already sold before the Auction, but was left in to draw people. I don't know who the car was sold to, but I know the person/company that brokered the deal.

Re: Yenko at Toronto Auction

Sorry, I have no idea. I may find out at future date and let you know. In this area everyone always seems to know everyone else's busines when it come to cars, so sooner or later that info will come to light.
