I did not get to see this car but was this the one that Frank Serafine was restoring a few years ago? It was an RS with side pipes and was supposedly the car used in the ads for Yenko/Span..........RatPack...........

I dunno, not a great restoration. I think it even had a wrong back seat. Could this be the one that the Camaro club restored a few years ago ?

How was the mood (bid activity, sell through) at that Santa Clara auction in general, Charlie? Enquiring minds (particularly those of us dealing in collector cars) want to know.....

Re: 67 Yenko at Kruse Auction 10/27/01

There wasn't much of a turnout. At one time I actually stood and counted about 100 total people sitting in seats.. Of those there was probably less than 10 people bidding. A dealer from Mi. bought 10 cheaper cars by the time I left on Sat. There was also someone from Utah buying a few cars. My friend brought 6 cars and sold one. A 440 sixpack Challenger Pilot car sold for about 39K, nice looking car. Reggie sold a 64 Galaxie Lightweight car for about 49K, nice car also.

Charley, was the red deuce from Reggie`s collection at the auction? It was featured in the Hemmings ad for the event.Earl

Yes it was there also but I didn't stay to see what it did. Headers, bucket seats. Probably a fun car to drive. I'm sure that the results are available at Kruses' web site somewhere.

Charley, you forgot the ".jpg" file extension.

Here's a copy of your file, renamed appropriately:

Chip Gerst has the car now and it is for sale at 95000.00. He has been doing alot of cleanup work to it. When at the Auction nobody mentioned that it had the orig. Yenko Invoice with it. It is YS 604. "Yenko 427 Stomper". Price was 5246.00. Side exhaust was 280.00. I will attempt to take a pic of a Faxed copy of Invoice. Are there very many out there with Invoices ? Chip can be reached at 714-325-4490.

Charlie and others,

Is this the earliest '67 Yenko Camaro known to exist? Is the history of the car questionable? Was this car manufactured before the last week of December '66, when the 3 Z28's were made for Don? (the #2,3,4 preproduction models) Inquiring minds need to know. https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

02E car... Sold new at Earl Davis Chevrolet, Mansfield Ohio. Apparently there is a twin out there that was sold at Humphries Chevrolet in Wisconsin.

Re: 67 Yenko at Kruse Auction 10/27/01

These early cars must be quite a mystery waiting to unfold. Tom, do any of your new or old archives hold any keys to the history of these early cars? Does anyone know which was the first Yenko Camaro? Is there any information about the light colored YENKO SUPER CAMARO with SS/RS trim and black vinyl top in the "Engineered by Dick Harrell" SPAN-INC. Presents the 1967 YENKO SPORTSCARS ad in 1967? (caps are as they appear in the ad) Is this the "first" Yenko Camaro? Do any other members have further info they are willing to share? Maybe this should be a new thread.

Re: 67 Yenko at Kruse Auction 10/27/01

Good field work Charley. Do you have those dogs trained to sniff out special yellow Camaros? Did the car have the Yenko YS tag in the door jam? Yenko put an ID tag on the 66 Stingers and the 68 Camaro but I don't think the 67 Camaro got them? The 1968 YS numbers begin at 8000 and the 1969 numbers begin at 9000 but that 67 Camaro is YS 604. I guess its just more of those little Yenko mysteries. I also see it has Traction Masters on the option list. These were early traction bars popular at that time and used by Shelby, Motion, and others.

No door tag.

Interesting, they double charged them for the style trim. RS includes the style trim, but it also appears on the sticker as an additional item. And the price is the correct price for both items.

Re: 67 Yenko at Kruse Auction 10/27/01

The VIN on the invoice does not appear on my list. In addition, I am puzzled by a couple of items. One, the stock number or YS number begins with a 6, not a 7. Yenko usually started the YS numbers with the year of the car. Two, it is on a Stinger (Corvair) invoice, even though Yenko did have another one, as I have originals of both. Tom

I think Jim Parks' '67 Yenko Camaro has one of those Stinger window stickers too.

Does Jim's start with a 6 instead of a 7 like this one does ?

Re: 67 Yenko at Kruse Auction 10/27/01

I believe that Jim's YS number starts with a 7. Tom

Update on the yellow '67. After the auction a broker bought the car and the word was that he thought he had it resold for $90,000.

Does it say anything on the documents about Span Inc.? Some early documents have this.

Re: 67 Yenko at Kruse Auction 10/27/01

OK, I just found some info on the car.
It was a Frank Serafine project. Tony & Holly Gurvis were former owners and they owned Crown Auto Top and ICP Crown in Columbus, Ohio.
It was in Camaro Enthusiast 12/93.

And yes, Jim's car is YS-713.

Here's a photo of Jim Park's window sticker. How many differences you can find with the Kruse car's invoice?

Re: 67 Yenko at Kruse Auction 10/27/01

Just got off of the phone with Chip, in regards to the Yenko. He has been in contact with former owners and it appears that the car is indeed a Yenko, as they have a lot of info, including the car's past history. The car was sold new through another dealership in the Yenko network. Because of this new found information, the car is going to join other Yenkos in Reggie's collection. This is indeed an interesting find. Tom
