Picked this wheel up, is this a rosewood wheel? If not can someone clarify what it is?

----It's not a rosewood. I can't quite tell the depth of the wheel, but looks like a 67-68 Corvette wheel
|
ehhhhhhh....could be...but check the depth of the wheel like olredalert mentioned. If it's shallow, it's a Camaro / Chevelle / Impala / Nova Rosewood. I believe the measurements are on the Camaro Resource Group. The measurements are out there.

Color looks more like walnut to me..
|
With this picture it’s hard to tell……it has decent grain though. Good luck.
|
My guess is it's a walnut wheel.
|
IIRC, Corvette wheels were a 1 piece housing, not a 2 piece like this one.

Looks like a Rosewood to me.

The rosewood has a definite redish brown tone, this looks like the vette wheel to me. The walnut, early 69 and '68 chevelle wheel is much darker and grained.

That's a 69 rosewood for sure.

Amazing no cracks..

The rosewood NOS wheels I have had were dark like that. As they get worn they get lighter and more reddish. Can I have it :-)

I believe there were at least 2 different suppliers for the rosewood wheels, as i've seen some that have a circular depression on the backside with a letter code molded into the plastic, similar to what you will often (but not always!) find on the lower backside of a "comfortgrip" style wheel. Most rosewoods don't have any markings on the back at all, but I've seen some that do. As Charley noted, the color varies as well, as does the amount of black streaking or graining in the plastic. Some are almost completely solid color like the one the OP has, and others have a ton of swirling and streaking of black throughout.

Phone doesn’t take great pics, but you see the difference from a walnut wheel
|
----I see the color difference. Are the 2 wheels shown both 2-piece, and are they the same diameter, and depth?
----I have an NOS Corvette Teak wheel that I know came out of the "Inland Fisher Guide Division". I was led to believe that all the plastic or Teak wheels came from there, but once again I may be wrong and Joe may be correct about manufacturers....Bill S |
