I drove one of these back in the day with the TH400...some guys laughed at the transmission...but they didn't know :beers::scholar:

Is the steer wheel OG to the car? You always see those on these cars, but when I went though a 70 Z for a buddy, we searched for a OG wheel that looked more like an Impala Steer wheel.

BlackL78M22Nova 01-19-2026 04:43 PM

Yes, OG to the 71 Z with Z87 Deluxe interior

I'll add to the sidebar on solid lifters with TH400.
55 years ago my red SS Chevelle was powered by 2nd design L88/M20 with 4.88s and 10" slicks. Looking for a better launch on the street I built a 400 with the governor reworked for full throttle shifts at 7200. Game changer! and when it hit 2nd is was a launch all over again. :3gears:
