I really like these cars, especially the Pastel Yellow boys.

Looks like you have a nice stable of 67’s.

Thanks for posting.

George Lyons is the seller. Haven't seen him posting on this site for quite a while.

This car has a 406 block. It is an 07B car. What date was the 406 replaced by the 323 block ?

luzl78 10-24-2025 04:15 AM

You’d see both blocks at that time but the 406 was still the prevalent one. I don’t think any 67 l78 Camaros have been verified with 323 blocks although it came out the 2nd week.

vette5762 10-24-2025 04:27 AM

Any opinions on the pad stamp or trim tag ?

vette5762 10-24-2025 04:32 AM

I know of two 67/L78 cars built 07B with 323 blocks. Was looking for a date when they changed, also what is the latest L78 build date?

luzl78 10-24-2025 11:47 AM

That’s great. I am corrected. Been a long time since I had that info.

Steve Shauger 10-24-2025 12:00 PM

Here's my 67 L78 with 323, and believe a butternut owned by Bob Caroll also has one.

My car is 06A built Norwood. Block is a 406. Never had it looked at by someone like JMc. It is what it is, had a few 69 dated parts on it when i bought it and still does. I enjoy it.
Couple of pad pics n TT.

Here’s the stamp from the L78 on BAT.

vette5762 10-24-2025 11:22 PM

Richard trim tag 4L and a color change and 06C ?

Steve Shauger 10-24-2025 11:32 PM

Not typical engine stamp. The rear is coded QL which decodes to 331 non posi and trans stamp should start with P = Muncie 7 = year or P7 which it doesn't, and no claims of originality of drivetrain.

Ooops wrong TT, not the 4K car. My bad.

1967 4K 10-25-2025 12:48 AM

LOL 😆, I,m messing with you guys showing the 4L TT. Was wondering who’d be the first to notice it. Check out the color of the 4L TT. Very cool 😎.

Any thoughts on the trim tag ? Should a 07B car have a 406 or a 323 block ?

It's ironic you ask that question because in 1996, I had to prove my 323 block came in late production 67 L78 Camaros. The conventional wisdom at the time was skeptical about the usage. This is a 1994 version of By The Numbers in later versions this was updated to confirm the usage. Back to your question you need data points to prove your question. I know of 3 7B built cars with 323 blocks.
In addition heads 840 were used in late production such as my car and the temp sender boss was not drilled or tapped since the sender was not mounted in the head until 1968.

1967 4K 10-25-2025 07:58 PM

The bid is at $51,500 with 4 days to go.

luzl78 10-25-2025 09:56 PM

That should go 80,000-90,000

1967 4K 10-26-2025 12:54 AM

I hope it does. 👍😋

Could you order a QL code 3:31 non-posi with a L 78 ?

I'm not certain but believe 3:07 the standard ratio if the buyer did not specify a specific ratio.

This 323 from a '67 Chevelle was cast F 8 7 and stamped T0630 same as Steve's L78. Any known 323's cast/built earlier than these??

luzl78 10-26-2025 07:39 PM

Steve is 4 bolt Chevelle is 2 bolt which means nothing but info.

1967 4K 10-26-2025 11:36 PM

Hmmm 🤔, got me thinking about my rear end housing code stuff. I remember Mike S. telling me he got the rear from Bob Harris. The ring n pinion is 3:73.Get back later.

1967 4K 10-26-2025 11:46 PM

QW rear

My rear housing code is QW 06 01 G1.
QW is 3:55 ratio. I know it’s a 3:73 because it had a chrome 12 bolt cover and I put an OEM black one on it. Counted the ring n pinion teeth while I had the cover off.
I’m sure Mike S. would not have bought n installed an incorrect rear for the car.

luzl78 10-27-2025 12:15 AM

He wanted you to go a little bit quicker.

jeffschevelle 10-27-2025 07:59 AM

I don't track Camaros, but do track 66-67 L78 Chevelles. I have recorded the following legit 323 block 67 Chevelle L78's:

T0627EG cast ??
T0627EG cast either F57 or F87
T0628EG cast F87
T0630EG cast F87

However, 406's were still in use at the same time. I have recorded many legit 406's with June assembly dates, including several stamped T0627EG (including my 07B Coupe and my 07D ElCamino) and T0628EG.

Steve, was your yellow Chevelle a 323 or a 406? I have it recorded as T0705EX, but didn't have a pic of the casting no.

I owned that car 25ish years ago. I will check for pics and notes I have on the car.

Still @ $51,500 with one day of bidding to go.

That engine pad stamping on the BaT car does not look legit at all.

Agreed. Bad pic, but IMO it's a restamp.

luzl78 10-29-2025 08:28 PM

that brings the value down to 55,000 even though its at $73,000 people are not knowledgeable when theyre bidding

When you stated 80 to 90k I thought you were way high based on the issues. Several us tried to help potential buyers. This car even has a 1966 or earlier transmission.

vette5762 10-29-2025 08:59 PM

Just sold for $84000

Steve Shauger 10-29-2025 09:07 PM

The second highest bidder should very, very happy:burnout:
