67 4K L78 Camaro
Friend of mine has a 67 4K Camaro L78 - end of the yr 67 production car.
It's a project car, and we were discussing the brakes. What was the brake configuration for this car? Drum with Master - #? Drum with Power Booster Master - #? Was disc an option at all ?? Appreciate the insight to this. |
The 4K cars I’ve seen through the years could have any of the configuration you mentioned. Mostly see drum brake. My car is power disc, I think Jose’s black car is power disc.
|
Mine has non-power disc brakes.
|
if power disc, what booster number are u using?
|
L78 discs
My L78 conv.came with disc brakes minus power assist
|
Booster # 8515. Hard one to locate and they bring top dollar.
|
8515 I would assume to be for both disc and drum....?
|
Hmm 🤔 not sure about that.
|
i believe 8515 is power front disc only 0749 is the booster for drum brakes 1109 is the booster number for drums with metallic shoes

Drum with Power Booster Master - BS master 0749 Booster Was disc an option at all ?? Yes Both manual disc and power disc. Manual disc master AD Power disc master WT Booster 8515 |
A 4K Camaro could also have metallic brake linings for the drums front and rear. The master cylinder for that combination is coded AU.

Thank you everyone for your input -

Eddie, If you choose to go with disc brakes, you will need to find "DG" 14x6 rally wheels. Rally wheels (ZJ7) was part of the disc brake package in 1967 & not a stand-alone option....Joe

ok good point Joe, let me advise him of these details

My 67 L78 has non power disc brakes. Stamped AD
