Well, I’m pretty excited! Been after this car for about 15 years and the original owner finally parted with it! Hasn’t run in about 10 years. 3038 original miles! Norwood car.

Wow! Unreal.

muscle_collector 09-09-2025 02:35 AM

nice looking i always loved that color. what is the story on why he never drove it?

bbjohnny 09-09-2025 02:44 AM

I’m not exactly sure! He did always have other cars to drive. It was just something he liked to do. He still has a 1974 Corvette with about 3000 miles on it. He had a 91 GMC pick up with 3500 miles on it! A friend of mine bought it the same day that I bought the Z.

Lynn 09-09-2025 03:43 AM

Nice.

Original Paint?

Yes, 100% original paint and original tires. The only thing that I can see that has been changed is the oil filter and battery. I don’t know a lot about 70 Z’s but I am learning as I go. Appears to have the original Lugnuts and original valve stem extension with the steel balls.

dykstra 09-09-2025 10:39 AM

Wow! Holy crap that's cool!! Congratulations!!

Steve Shauger 09-09-2025 10:46 AM

Looks like an amazing car. Big congratulations on you aquiring the car. Your perseverance paid off. This car would fit our Vintage Certification program @ MCACN and have a spot available...

COPO427 09-09-2025 11:36 AM

Wow, what a score. Congratulations. I still don’t understand how an original owner after all these years can sell it.

bbjohnny 09-09-2025 02:10 PM

Sorry! Don't know how to rotate!

Charley Lillard 09-09-2025 02:10 PM

Wow...Congrats. Nebraska is not that far from MCACN. We really need to see it. Doesn't need to run.

A true classic beauty. Congrats.

Burd 09-09-2025 03:36 PM

Are all your plug loom brackets on, I got a Dr side you can have.
I detailed the engine on my buddy’s Dk Green LT1 70 a few years back, had that extra, not easy to find the 2.
Nice car!

markinnaples 09-09-2025 04:52 PM

Wow, congratulations on an amazing purchase. I think that's a dream for all of us to find something like that.

I’m not sure if I have them all or not! Here’s some pics. I probably need to get better ones. Maybe you can tell me if I am missing any?

Hotrodpaul 09-09-2025 06:10 PM

I would love the see tons of benchmark pics as I am restoring my 70 Citrus green Z-28. Mine is a Van Nuys car.

bbjohnny 09-09-2025 06:17 PM

Let me know what you would like to see. I haven't cleaned up anything under the hood or underneath yet. And I am not going to do much but knock off the dust. It will be a few days before I can get good pics underneath.

One thing I thought was odd. There is no under hood insulation on the car. Original owner says there never was any! Are there other known cases of 70 Z’s not having hood insulation?

azcamaros 09-09-2025 06:22 PM

What a great find, and I can’t wait to see more pictures. Also the throttle return spring looks interesting. I look forward to learning more about, and from your car. Thanks for posting.

bbjohnny 09-09-2025 06:34 PM

Throttle return spring is incorrect! When the car was about six months old, the carburetor was stolen off the car. GM was on strike and the original owner couldn’t buy one from GM. So he went to the neighborhood speed shop and asked if they had a generic Holley carburetor that would work on his car. Speed shop guy came back with his stolen carburetor! The fuel line was cut in the exact same spot where his fuel was still cut on the car! So he got the original carb back! There is a rubber hose where the gas line was cut. I assumed that the throttle spring was lost at that time!

BCreekDave 09-09-2025 06:43 PM

Looks almost like the original green spring stretched way out, like they missed the tang on the bracket.
