Thanks Ralph but the ones that stump me are the J under the H for Holley on right side and the letter R next to the AA on the left and the #4 just above the tape with owners name.

Hi Marty and thanks. Heres a few, Both are mine in the picture. The maroon one is a 66 chevy II radio delete L79 bench 4sp

Ralph Spears 08-17-2025 12:24 PM

What color is the interior on the maroon car. I knew someone that had one like that in the Boston MA area with beige interior car sold new from Clay Chevrolet in Newton MA.

Crazy joe that there's nothing after the Muncie P0429 date stamp the Identifies which Muncie is in it?

Thanks Joe. Looks like the 66 L79 Nova Muncie was mated to rear ratio.
M21 close ratio was mated with 373 or a 411 gear while a wide ratio was anything under the 373 gears.

All 66 Chevy II non SS cars with factory red interior came with a white headliner

Can you show where this statement is correct?

I’m not sure if there’s any written proof of this from Chevrolet but from years of being a 66 Chevy II follower and knowing someone that has original low mile red interior 66 Nova, I’m pretty sure about the lighter color / off white headliner. See link below

I had a red/red L79 back in 1975. There was a lot of red to that car including the headliner...Joe

Have never seen the "A, B, or C" shown on a POP to identify the model of Muncie (M-20, M-21, or M-22) even beginning with the 1969 model year when the actual stampings on the transmission started to include the letter at the end of the stamping to designate the trans model. For whatever reason, the POP didn't have that information, at least all the ones that I have seen.

Also little known is the year shown on the trans stamping is not necessarily the year of the trans manufacture, but is actually the model year of the car, so in other words a trans with a 9 as the first number stamped could still be a trans manufactured in 1968, but in a 1969 model year car.

Gorgeous Chevy II's. Great color combos.

Yes sir and I own a red red 66 chevy II L79 now. I also have seen most with red / white headliner but that's why I asked. A few pictures of my Chevy II L79. Nothing special just a really nice original motor car with great history
