Hello / Trying to find Meguiar's #7 polish (like I remember it)
Hello all,
I remember using Meguiar's #7 back in late 80's & 90's that was thin viscosity, greenish in color and kind of greasy feeling. It worked wonders on revitalizing old GM lacquer paint I dealt with on typical used muscle cars available then. I bought a bottle recently that is called #7 but nothing like the original stuff, unless I'm mistaken. Any help with finding original formula or a simular product? I'm trying to bring back some shine on original paint trunk lid on my '71 Skylark Custom. Much appreciated! Jerry |
Suggest talking to Meguiars and ask them if their formulation has changed. I am still using the same bottle I bought a dozen years ago so I can't compare the old stuff to the new

The only no. 7 I have seen is in a bottle now. The bottle I have is a tan color of glaze. The latest is called M07 in a black bottle.

I talked to a guy at the Meguires truck at good guys and he said the bottle for no 7 has changed a couple times but still the same product. The bottle they had today is black

I used #7 for years and can't find it any longer. I'm glad you asked this question.

If you are open to suggestions, I had wonderful results with Adam’s Brilliant Glaze on my worn out paint ‘66 Impala.
Below is the only image I could hot-link. https://i5.walmartimages.com/seo/Ada...0&odnBg=FFFFFF https://photos.smugmug.com/My-Cars/1...0126%29-XL.jpg |

Thanks for the Adams Polish sugerstion. I have some experience with their products and will try the Brilliant Glaze next. Driving this weekend to Hot August Nights in Reno NV. for the week so I'll see if I can pick some up to bring along. Thanks again!

Here's a video I found that I thought was very helpful. It's from a few years ago but is still relevant to this post. I've tried his procedure on my Nova and it seems to be helping.

My dad bought a '66 Chevelle new in Aztec Bronze. About my favorite color for that year. Tied with Marina Blue, but I painted my '66 SS a "modern" Aztec as there are already enough Marina Blue Chevelles around.

The new No.7 is not like the old No.7. The new product is white and is of a thicker viscosity. However, I use it and like it…although I loved the original formula. There sure seems to be a lot of products in that arena.
I’ll tell you what product I do like is the Driven Spray Wax. We use it all the time on the race car and other stuff, too. Quick and easy but it’s not a miracle worker. |
I remember the old #7 stuff, it was pretty good.

I see this now,Thanks John.
