1967 Corvette Coupe L79 4 speed C60 A/C

A few months back, I got a "tip" from our own Tim G, about this car. Born with L79 drivetrain, A/C, AM/FM, lifelong Oklahoma car. This was purchased out of a 25 year ownership (3rd owner). Bare glass repaint about 8 years ago in it's original Sunfire Yellow over black vinyl. The car retains all of it's dated secondary components, it's original POP, all 5 original DC wheels, original black wall Laredo spare, and ownership history from day 1.

I've got to get this project rolling as there is more on the horizon

Nice !!!

TimG 06-27-2025 09:12 PM

I’m glad you got it, Tim. I wanted to find a good home for the yellow L79 and if you didn’t buy it, I probably would have. I don’t need another ‘67. It’s a great car

Whew...you are on a roll Tim...again, my comment on the '62 about you being a magnet for great cars :beers:

Congrats Tim!! My brother and I have a soft spot for L79's with AC!!

I am getting busy on the yellow 67 this week. I sent in the photos and information to Al Grenning (CCAS). The trailering arms have been sent out for rebuilding (the bushings were far beyond junk), I replaced the cheap plastic throw out bearing they provide with so many clutches (noisy), and this morning is steam cleaning.

Thankfully a storm passed through last night and changed the temps from the 90's into the low 60's.

I also went to push the u joints out of the half shafts. They were not being cooperative, so I soaked them in Evaporust. When I went to flip them over this morning, I found some inspection marks

Work in progress looks great.
Yeah, that weather was horrible, hot southern wind at 20-30 mph along with tropical humidity. I cut the back yard grass before noon and then hibernated in the house the rest of the day...

1967 4K 07-16-2025 06:55 PM

Wow thats a heck of a temperature change in just a few hours. At my place this morning at 6:30 EST the humidity reading was 94%. Hot n Muggy in central Ky..

napa68 07-17-2025 07:00 PM

Here are some progress pics as of this afternoon. I have plenty of parts to clean up yet. The added bonus was I sliced my left thumb pretty good this morning, trying to change out the half shaft joints. I'll spare you that pic. I friend of mine that has a shop locally will handle the u joints for me. The trailering arms are supposed to be back this afternoon. Depending on how my thumb is doing, I may get those installed tomorrow. Probably smart to wait until Monday though.......:dunno:

Tim, you know how to clean up a chassis, that is for sure. What a sweet car.
Take care of your thumb.

Looking forward to another one of your restoration threads!

It will heal faster if he doesn't keep aggravating it every day... says the guy who came home from urgent care with 6 stitches in the web between the thumb and first finger, and went right back to the project that ripped it open.

Ouch!! We've all been there. Heal quick!! Nice progress

Looks great!

Jim at V Tech Corvette in Rockford, IL always takes care of me. I elected to pass on the powder coating and new dust shields, as this car leans more towards the survivor side. These trailering arms were shipped out this past Monday, and arrived last night (Thursday). Hopefully I can assemble everything on Monday.

I had the enjoyable fortune that Tim G paid me a visit this week. It's always good to catch up with Tim. I got the trailering arms installed (waiting on a couple of small items before I pull torque on everything). With some luck, I may have the car on the road by EOD tomorrow. Here are a some additional pics as I am wrapping up the chassis....

The car is better than I imagined. Good thing it wasn’t up and running or I would’ve had my wife divert Tim’s attention and taken off with it.

I had a chance to install a new set of shoes yesterday, in addition to getting some seat time behind the wheel. With the heat and humidity that are in play right now, the A/C was a REALLY nice luxury to have. To say I am happy and impressed, is an understatement! Still, more cleaning, detailing, etc. to go.

Here are some pics from this morning, as the light was conducive

That's such an impressive C2, all angles.

SupremeDeluxe 07-29-2025 03:51 PM

Those are some money shots there, especially the RR quarter view.

For anyone that hasn't owned a sorted 67 L-79, it has nearly the refinement of a Cadillac with the power of a Corvette. It's a whole different car than where they started in 63.

RPOLS3 07-29-2025 06:11 PM

Normally I'm not a yellow guy but this car hits different........looks great!

The A/C is what puts this one over the top. Mom and Dad drove their 67 L79/C60 roadster all over the country in the 90's and it never missed a beat.

olredalert 07-29-2025 07:02 PM

----Wow is that a pretty C2....Bill S

Today was the dive into the interior. The gauge cluster was plenty dirty and dusty. I'll rebulb everything, grease the speedo and tach cable, and reinstall

Tomorrow, clean the seats and steering column, plus reassemble the gauge cluster

You always do a beautiful job on those gauge clusters. I bet you can do them with your eyes closed by now.

Tim,

What is the decal/sticker on the front of the RH valve cover?
Thanks.

napa68 08-29-2025 11:45 AM

1 Attachment(s)
That decal is typical to all 67 (at least) L79's

67since67 08-29-2025 03:02 PM

That decal is also used on the '67 Chevelle L79, plus I believe the Z28 and SS350 Camaro. (All have chrome valve covers) :beers:

olredalert 08-29-2025 09:45 PM

----I can only hope you don't have to change any one of the 4 passenger side plugs, Tim. I wouldn't wish that one anyone. Love this 350hp coupe. Great road trip Corvette, and just a great 67 period!....Bill S

TimG 08-29-2025 09:51 PM

The 1967 L79 coupes are the fantastic.
