RM Sothebys - '67 Yenko Camaro

Hi All,
Does anyone know owner history, originality, documentation of this Yenko?
Any known issues with hidden VIN, body/metal, tags, etc?

Thanks,
Dan

I owned the car in 2001-2002. I bought the car from Kevin Suydam who had the car impeccably restored by Dave Tinnell in Edmonton Kentucky. I believe that Kevin bought the car from Mick Price.

The first or second owner of the car, back in the 1970s, was a drag racer nicknamed "Coke Bottles" because of his thick glasses. His name is Gordon Vergeront, last known address c/o Three G Auto Sales in Madison WI. I spoke to "Coke Bottles" in 2001 and he said he had a photo of the car on his office wall, pulling a wheelie and sporting a full fiberglass front end.

I sold the car in early 2002 to Gary Holub, who added the Stinger hood. The car is very well sorted mechanically. Not the original drivetrain. Bulletproof and extensive documentation, viewable on the Sotheby's site.

I sent Gordo an email we'll see what happens.

I bought this car in I think 1997 in Green Bay Wisconsin. At that time it had a Doug Nash 5 speed and best of all it had an original 427 512 casting MQ engine out of a factory 427 chevelle. I kept the motor and trans and sold the car to Kevin and he had Dave Tinnel completely restore the car. Vince Emme, at that time had the protecto plate for the car but wouldn't give it up unless he did later on.

Should not have Yenko badges……Yenko crest emblem badges didn’t come out until early 1968……and those badges on it currently are 1970 version.

I remember seeing this car when Holub had it. Didn’t know Tinnel did the restoration until this post. Real nice 67. Built one week prior to my 4K. Cool 😎👍.

Ad says that it’s perhaps the best documented 67 Yenko Camaro. All that is posted is a window sticker that is iffy. Does it have a shop order or dealer invoice? Not questioning the car - I’d just like to have pics of other docs for the registry.

Click on the "Documents" button on the car's listing. Create a (free) account for yourself if you don't have one, then you can view all the documents.

Thanks :-)

I’ve heard that YS604 has great docs, but haven’t seen them. Do you have pics of them? Again - not questioning, just trying to help with our registry.

I purchased YS760 Super Man from the original owner……The car has 7 original Yenko sheets , POP, keys, original sleeve and letters from Yenko salesman Ron Lane in original stamped envelopes . Retains its entire Yenko conversion drivetrain, interior, glass and Sheet metal with 7,200 original miles. The only thing I have missing is the window sticker which was removed prior to my owner, picking up the car.

When I owned this car there was no paperwork with the car. I bought it because Vince verbally verified it and Wade Fletcher knew the car. Vince had been given the protecto plate by a previous owner but as I said earlier he wouldn't give it up.

It has the special order trim tag that is found of some of the 67 Yenkos

luzl78 06-28-2025 04:53 PM

This car was built on the same day as my l78 vert. 200 vins before mine.

Some of the paperwork looks like it came from Warren D. He has paperwork like that on some of the Harrell converted cars

I heard from a good source that this car sold at auction yesterday……$640 plus the juice is $704 for YS703 Somewhere on FB it says Heartbeat City Jim acquired the car.

Did the car originally come with a Stinger hood?

Stefano 08-18-2025 09:43 PM

I can't ready the dealer invoice but from what I recall/memory is that Gary added the Stinger Hood to the car.

Congrats to both the new owner and seller!

The YS-703 paperwork shows the AHRA drag racing package that many 1967 Yenko 427 Camaros had but not all had it.

It shows the parts list on the paperwork .

RC bell housing (scatter shield)
headers
Traction Master (traction bars)
Stewart Warner Tach and gauges)
Hood Pins
AutoLite wires and boots , (high temp spark plug wires)

hood pins are listed but no fiberglass hood is listed
